I've often read other posts here, and it seems most of the members who participate fill their CD players with DG a couple of days before the show. That's really cool, or as DCA has described it "Getting your DG on!". Personally, I lay off for a few days before, and that's only a ritual I picked up from my brother. I've done this with almost every concert I have gone to, whether it's DG, Genesis (Showing my age here), Tull or the Moody Blues (caught Stevie Ray Vaughn opening for them back in the day). I think it adds to the show, but that's my ritual. Usually I would listen to anything else, even the radio, so I could look forward to each song without comparing how it sounded earlier that day. Does anyone else go through a pattern of behavior before the concert? Like sipping Earl Grey from the other side of the cup? Dressing up like Elton John in the basement for an afternoon? Brush the cat against its fur? Yes, mine might be a bit silly and, dare I say, unconventional, but to quote Peter Gabriel "I know what I like and I like what I know".

LOL. No, I blast the music of whoever I'm going to see on my way to the show. It adds to the "OHMYGOD I'm actually going to see xxxx right now!!" I have adrenaline going the whole day of the show so that I'm practically shaking in my seat waiting for the lights to go down.

Buy new dress. Buy new shoes. Buy new makeup. Just in case...

I am exactly the same..........depends on who and how my schedule is but most definitely blast on the way........and only that artist gets played all week prior as well because of all the travel this week we actually watched live in slow motion last night! and definitely on the adrenaline as well...............that is one of the main reasons I can't deal with openers

Now that's an interesting topic, Phil. Btw, I am just like you. before I go to a gig I stop listening to that artist all together. I want to hear the music as fresh and new. I even go as far as not even checking out new artists at all whom I am going to see just because I read they were good or received recommendations for from reliable sources. For me it's the time after the show when I am listening to no one else. The period of time depends on the quality of the gig, of course. There were artists I stopped listening to completely after a poor performance.

My pre-concert rituals: Take a flight, get on the bus, check into a hotel. Get some dinner. Go to the gig. Yeah, it only happened once:(

I can't really classify this as a concert, but I do plan on watching Batman Begins and The Dark Knight the day I am going to see the Dark Knight Rises. To paraphrase DCA- I'm gonna get my Batman on!

Rats, my secret is out. Now everybody knows who the Dark Knight's "true" identity is. Actually, I put on a phony English accent and walk around with a tray asking Mr. Wayne if he cares to have his dinner now. Then I put on my George Clooney-era costume, with nipples intact. Can't shake that Robin, though. Boy Wonder, my ass!

And, I am on the side of listening to whatever artist I am going to see religiously for a week before the gig. The misses always yells at me as I think I get a little caught up going to see shows... especially Mr. Gray!
