I know there are some musicians cruising around this site ... can someone please tell me about the string instrument used in the beginning of this DG video - what is it? There's nothing at all printed on the headstock...  thanks.

reminded me though of this session!! listening back again to these vids there was indeed some great chatter with DG throughout - you can hear maria laughing through much.......sorry about the camera work - it was alex when he was 11! (we could fall is video #4)

Thanks, DCA - the Guardian clip is awesome quality - can now see that there IS something printed on the headstock:  Tacoma.  I remember reading that he bought a baritone guitar in Nashville, this must be the one, what a beautiful sound.  Those private gig vids made my day - it's like Christmas - what a treasure trove - love love love to hear DG talk about his music - thanks a bunch for re-posting and kudos to the camera man, he did a fine job!  Cheers ~ it's back to those Alex vids for me now /pam

not the same amount of chatter but great stuff and my first time ever getting ANDAM...oh and he joked about having a plate of calamari

it was also the first time I really saw his girls as they went on most of the tour with Ray....Ivy was WAY into this gig and watched pretty much all of it.......Florence could care less and just hung out in the back with her mum lol! 

I could be terribly wrong, but when Babylon took its slow phase during the DTL tour - didn't Robbie play this guitar before the third verse?

I love that CNN interview for the last part.  He pours so much of himself into his music.  I love what he says, and then he has a moment at the end of the song where he is clearly THERE.  I've had it on my favorites list for a while.

I need to get to those private gig clips.  I've tried to start watching one ever since they were posted, and I keep getting interrupted!  Grr!
