I figured this topic would arise eventually.. but i've been thinking about this way too much so i thought i'd get things going! Smile

Limit is 20 songs including the encore

Ok, so after much (MUCH) thinking, here's mine:

    Wine

    Foundling

    Draw The Line

    Flame

    Forgetting

    Kathleen

    In God's Name

    Fixative

    Babylon

    All The Love

    TYL

    Holding On

    Living Room

When I Was In Your Heart

    Easy Way To Cry

    Sail Away

    --------------------------

Sea >> Davey Jones (How amazing would this be Big Smile)

    PFM

    Gathering Dust

..i had a list of about 8 or so other songs that i tried my hardest to fit in (Like Say Hello, Shine, FDTMS, We could fall..) but i couldn't swap them with anything.. so here it is.

    What's yours? Smile

    you go Teem!! wink
this is hard! so I decided to focus on what DG said about it not being a "greatest hit" tour and put the emphasis on Foundling, some DTL songs since it was recent and then older, less played songs.
(was hard to leave off Freedom, but I will behave) lol

    LOL!!

and WOW what a set list!! I was thinking - and hoping - that for this tour he didn't feel obligated to perform babylon or pfm........and yes on foundling - I agree as well it could be the next nightblindess/nemesis - there seemed to be some consensus around davey jones so I guess we shall see!

All I want to add is love these tours because they put me in total DG mode and I simply have to give props to Sell Sell Sell - quite possibly my absolute DG favorite!

My guess is (you can tell it's heavily based on what he's been playing recently.. I know, I'm boring)

    The setlist staples are these:
    Babylon
    TYL
    Wine
    Foundling / (Davey?)
    Holding On
We could fall in love again tonight
When I Was In Your Heart
    DTL (still)
    ANDAM

    He will also play:
    Shine
    Falling Free
    Hold On
    Living Room
    In the Morning
    Say Hello

    I hope he will play:
    Surprises from before White Ladder

    I fear he will:
Play something like Gathering Dust once, dca reports it was a good time for a bathroom break because the na-na part just kept going on and the show never gets booted (just kidding Cool)

Anyway, I am bad at predicting what the surprises are. I wasn't expecting stuff like Living Room or Debauchery or Everytime (well that's been played a bit more often) to pop up on the DTL tour, so who knows what he comes up with..

lol - I don't expect any bathroom breaks on this tour unless they do an intermission.............I think it will be way too intimate to not look like somewhat of an arse for getting up...............but I do suppose nature does call however!

and are you kidding on gathering dust??!! lol

I am very certain kathleen is a steady on this tour as he has pretty much said that..........and I completely agree that he pulled some real heavyweights out on the dtl tour

as I said to telephone - I just cannot go here as I have a big enough problem with setting my expectations too high to start thinking thru my ideal set list..............a personal issue if you will lol

I agree totally...as I recall...hes even said he was growing tired of singing some of them(babylon)...and honestly, I personally think some of them have been done too much in the last couple years..between the tours...the cbs morning show appearance, artist den, the dvd live shows and assorted other radio and tv appearances, I really dont need to hear the same handful of songs for awhile even though they are faves..Im getting burned out on TOIL, TYL, PFM, Sail Away, Babylon,etc....and i think he really wants to focus on Foundling more than anything by what hes said recently.   IMHO and all that..

    WOW

That's sounds awesome YDTM! I can almost visualise it all...

I also like ak's set ... Say Hello was so hard to leave out for me but t i couldn't take anything out to put it in!

I agree with all the general comments, i wouldn't mind if he strayed away from Sail Away/Babylon/TYL ... but the Paisley version of PFM is too good, that'll always be on my list.

Thing is, i can't imagine a concert without him playing those four.. so thats why i threw them in.. it will definately be interesting to see the actual set lists.

Oh and miralake, your set looks wonderful! Forgot how much i love The Rice..

    ..must .. resist ... urge .. to .. edit ... post .. :@

Yeah, YDTM's setlist would be awesome. But I think it's wishing a bit too much Big Smile There is SO much potential in all those Sell,Sell,Sell songs.. I reaaaallly hope he brings them back. He's played Hold on to Nothing recently though, so there's hope for more..

Huh? Baffled? Really? It's just the perfect song to go out on...the "live in the moment" concept is something I need drilled in my head on an hourly basis. Maybe that's why I adore the song so much. That, and how he sings "and you are all unhinged". I love it when he's all fired up! Might not exactly be on everyone's radar, but who couldn't love this song??

Yeah, I like the song. Now that you put it out like that maybe it would work as the last song!

I currently have a list of 30 songs. I gotta somehow cut it down to 20. Then I gotta put them in a good transition order. You cant just stick songs in the order you wanna hear. If you do, most likely there wont be a flow...you got to have a smooth flow. Also you got to balance your types of songs. You cant have to many "closing" songs - songs that you can end a show with because of the high you are left on when the song ends. You also cant have to many extended songs - songs that can go well beyond a 6+ min mark.

Once I narrow my 30 down to 20 and put them in a good order, Ill put it up...this could take a while.

I am the sudden and quite unexpected twist...
