I have been waiting a similar length of time - no sign of it what so ever. It would be nice to know how long it would take?

So, even though I bought it on the 20th (and the money came out of my bank account and the shop said it was to be 4-14 business days until I received the CD), I still won't be seeing my merchandise any time soon? I was under the impression that it was for sale through the web site starting on August 20th and the release was immediate. I thought the "yet to be determined date" was for the release to the general public. Completely confused.

     Hi soulkitchen,

With each new encounter we are seeing new ways and opportunities to better communicate events like this to you. With the pre-order of A Thousand Miles Behind the release date has not been determined yet. Anyone who purchased the CD during the pre-order will receive an email confirming the release date so you can get a better idea of when to expect your CD in the mail.

The CD was a special offer to the members of DavidGray.com and will not be released anywehre else. Our apologies for any confusion regarding this issue and thanks for your input.

I hope this clears things up.

I have been a fan of DG since 1999, been to see him live several times and have all of his singles and albums to date etc, so obviously I want this for my collection, but I think it's ridiculous paying £16+ for a CD that hasn't even got a release date! Roll Eyes If we were to be given a likely date of release for the CD, I am sure there wouldn't be so many unhappy fans!  Do we expect the CD to be released this year or next ? Confused  Why have a pre-order system in place without a date of release ?  I also find it unjustified as to why the "digital download" is available straight away, but the CD isn't ? Tongue Tied

    Hi Suzanne,

the 'A Thousand Miles Behind' collection is a special goodie offered to members of this community only; it won't be available anywhere else. I personally am very grateful as I know this hasn't happened before and wasn't to be expected.

The digital download (complete with the artwork and DG's notes on every song) is available as a special service so fans won't have to wait until the physical cd will be manufactured. I can understand that you are anxious to get your hands on the cd but such things simply take their time. Of course, you are free to wait until the release date will be announced and place your order then.

I downloaded the 256 kbps version of the album as flac won't work on my computer and the quality is excellent. As is the album, by the way. It's well worth waiting for.

Did you notice that there is one song recorded at Kilmarnock on the album?  You were at that gig, weren't you? Are you going to any gigs in November?

    - Rena

As you've stated several times, the cd will be released at a later date. However, I think everyone is in agreement when saying we thought when we purchased the CD, we got it then. I didn't see anywhere telling me I'd have to wait until they decided to release it. That's taking our money now and potentially not giving us what we bought for another 6 months maybe? Why would anyone do that? Maybe I overlooked it, but I didn't see any clear cut statement regarding that. I think if that were the case, not many people would have bought the CD. I certainly would not have. Hypothetically, what happens if someone dies? Or moves? Or any other number of circumstances that may arise? We're all grateful that the members here get this exclusive CD, but it almost seems like we're being suckered into giving money NOW for something that they have no idea when they're going to release. What do I have to do to receive a refund? This is extremely disappointing and $20.00 isn't a lot of money, but it's enough to not want to be completely clueless as to when I'll receive what I paid for. It also is a bill I could pay, yet feel that David Gray is worth it at that time, not whenever they feel necessary.

PLEASE NOTE: This CD is available for pre-order starting August 20, 2007, exclusively through DavidGray.com. The official release date for the CD is yet to be announced. In the meantime you can choose the option to download the album or individual singles through our Digital Download section. To better clarify the confusion, I copied and pasted the only information available. From the way this is making it sound, the PRE-ORDER is what is exclusive from DavidGray.com and not the actual album release. When it says "official release date", it appears that it's referring to everyone else, thus us pre-ordering it as members of DavidGray.com and receiving it BECAUSE we're exclusive. Much like the ticket pre-sale that was on the site....we had exclusive rights to the pre-sale for the concert tickets before the "official release date". We didn't have to wait to receive the tickets, we got them right away. See what I mean?

Hello anyone who is involved in the release date of the 'new' cd.  I have bought, well ordered not yet in my possession,  a copy of the cd.  I have bought it for my son-in-law who has emigrated to Perth Australia, who  I must say is an avid fan.  I am going to visit him from England in October  (21st).  Will I have it in my possession by then I wonder?

    Hope you can help.

    Hi Rena,

    Thanks for your response.

I have already placed my order for the "A Thousand Miles Behind" CD and I am extremely grateful that this is a "members only" collection.  I am well aware that this CD is "exclusive" and will not be available anywhere else, but the point I am making is, I have paid money for a CD that doesn't actually have a release date and have no indication of a likely date of release.  I placed my order 2 weeks ago and potentially could be waiting a long time.  If we were to be given an expected date of release, it would be helpful and wouldn't cause so much frustration among the community.  Naturally, as a fan of DG I am very anxious to get my hands on the CD and trust that it is worth waiting for, it's just the issue of the release date that is niggling me somewhat.

I went to the gig in Kilmarnock, so I am looking forward very much to hearing that.  I'm going to see him at the Glasgow Carling Academy in November! Big Smile

    Suzanne.

    Hello everyone,

I want you to know that your concerns do not go unnoticed. We are consistently looking at ways to improve communication with you so your feedback is helpful.

If it makes it any easier to understand, think of David as a caterer for your event. He's got a super delicious recipe for haggis but knows that not everyone may have the stomach for it. Wink By knowing how many people want some will help prevent him from cooking too much or too little.

Rest assured you will not be left in the dark for 6 months. It's been 3 weeks since the CD went on sale and we will hopefully have more information very shortly.

We thank everybody for their patience has been a learning experience for all of us  and the next time around there will be far less bumps and bruises.

I also am very frustrated by this whole experience. I think that DG.com should at least make the downloadable tracks available to those who have pre-ordered the album while we are waiting. It would be a nice way to make up for the mistakes.

Hi Samifan24, I'm not sure what you're experience was that has gotten you so upset but if there is an issue with purchases you've made through the shop you can always email shop@davidgray.com for someone to help you out.

The downloads are a whole seperate purchase so offering the digital tracks to customers who bought the CD would not be fair. No mistakes have occured, it's always been stated that the CD release date is TBD. As soon as we know the release date for ATMB eveyone who purchased the CD will reveive an email letting them know an approximate timeframe of when to expect thier CD's.
