Don't really have any, myself. But I hope your year will turn out well, Lise - that you get your drivers licence and get to travel with Callum to the States and everything. I'm not sure why you need to lose a stone (not even sure how much that is) seeing as you're such a beautiful looking woman already, but if you say so. Here's wishing for you good health anyway!

Lise, I didn't think you'd have anything left to quit! I guess mine is quite simply to drag my life out of the toilet in which it currently resides. I can' be any more specific without the risk of spending the next 15 years on this thread, but in brief I will do less drinking, smoking, eating, worrying, obsessing, falling for no-good men, time wasting, accepting situations just to avoid arguments, impulsive spending, laziness, focusing on small things which are wrong rather than addressing the reasons behind them, spending time lone in my house and dicking about on the internet too much. And I will do more exercise, healthy eating, fun-having, socialising, positive thinking, sorting things out, talking about my feelings and making myself heard, writing, SINGING, self-belief, letting go of the past, sobriety, reading, meditation, absorbing nature, discovering new music and... going out dancing! I worked out recently that I haven't been out anywhere and danced for around 8 years. I need to do that before all that is left for me is Tina Turner around my handbag in Malta. Basically I need a brand new me.
Allegedly.

Or maybe you don't. Maybe all you need is being less hard on yourself. Best of luck to you anyway.

Trust me, birch, I need to ship myself out to some military training camp and feed myself on gruel for 12 months.

My resolution is not to set any resolutions. I only feel bad a month later when I've not fulfilled them. And February's a cruddy enough month without adding to the misery.Katy - dancing is the business. I'm loving my weekly salsa class.

Well this year I managed to even out my dress sizing- am now the same size on the bottom as the top. This coming year I am going to try for another. For this year of my degree I'd like to get an average of around 60-65%, this requires hard work and determination on my part but I am going to give it a go. Make the most of having my lovely boyfriend with me at Uni. He graduates in June and I have another year to go so I am trying to prepare myself for him not being around. It's not easy, in fact I feel sad just thinking about it- So here's to the next 6 months of enjoying every second

I am trying not to give up so easily anymore - whether it's being too lazy to work or crying in an argument. I think I can be a better person if I learn to pull myself together a bit more...

Katy, if you go out dancing a lot of the others will take care of themselves! If you are really into your dancing it is hard to drink and smoke at the same time. Also when you are having a blast dancing you don't want to deal with the no good men who hang around just to watch you shake it, you will be exercising and not worrying or obsessing about anything. YOu will also not be alone in your house and will be socializing. In short, dancing more is the key! When I make my way to your part of the work we are going to go on a dancing rampage- it is my favorite thing to do! My resolutions are to not worry so much. Live a healthier lifestyle. Leave myself open to new experiences and take advantage of every new opportunity or invitation. (Can you tell I just read 'Yes Man'?)

Lol, Courtney, never thought of it like that! Well I've blown most of them already. Just went into town to buy a top for work in the sales, came back with 3 different NYE outfits... Oops. So that's the not spending out the window. Off out for a curry tonight with the ex, with beer, then coming home for a night in on my own to watch TV. I can't even count how many that's breaking! Aaaargh! Oh well. It's not New Year yet.
Allegedly.

I don't really make resolutions, but I really want this year to be the year I get control of my body back. I quit smoking 8 months 5 days ago and my ass has paid the price.

you'll do it katiemay....you managed to quit smoking and this is just step 2. my hubby quit a year ago october and started on a diet before xmas (he went to the doc and found out that he gained 40 pounds in that year). don't be too discouraged -- gaining weight is better than smoking and you can take it off. sooooo, i'm going to take off that last 7-10 pounds that i put on with midlife crap.a good tool -- it's called www.fitday.com and you can enter your calories, activities, etc. there's a journal area and you can put in your goals, etc. also it tells you if you burned your calories in the day, week, etc. pretty good tool.

I don't make new year's resolutions, and never have... I do enjoy seeing others make them and fail horribly Kidding (sort of) [ 29 December 2006: Message edited by: Henriette ]

mine are the same as last year, but this year my resolution is to follow them! For motivation, I'm going to print 12 copies, and attach them to the first day of each month in my diary.Everybody needs some positive, fun resolutions, don't make it all quitting and and deprivation. Resolving to go out dancing once a month is a good one, Katy! You've got the new outfits, go dancing on New Years Eve!mkk - your husband gained 40 pounds without noticing?? Did his clothes not get a bit snug??

I have things I want to do durning the coming year though but will never ever call it a new years resolution... my ongoing one is to worry less and to THINK less and care less about a lot of things... Try to be more openminded and make new friends and stuff. And I want to take up jogging again and with the park so close by and the mild winter it shouldnt be too hard... errr. I want to find another room to live in in London, not super happy with the current one. Oh yeah, and graduate and find a job. meh. And on that note to sum it up - put less pressure on myself!!
