May God rest the souls of the innocent who lost their lives to the demon in Colorado. Those who wanted a pleasant time at a midnight showing were sacrificed for some go.....ed evil virus who needed 15 minutes of fame. May he be strapped to a table for 15 hours til the poison does its job. 15 hours of agony is still not deserving enough. As he burns in hell for eternity, may those victims look down on him from heaven and enjoy a good laugh.

it is strange how you were joking, or even not joking, about watching all three movies in a row just last week. and reading the news today i was shocked about 12 people being killed while they were trying to be the first to watch an entertaining movie. i don't believe in heaven or hell nor do my prayers go out to anyone but i feel that this world is at times just a cruel, randomly unfair and a strange place to be. how unimportant and at the same time relevant a visit to the theatre can be. there's are differences to all the other fucked up things going in the world when something like that happens. not only because it matters in a national or social way but because of the randomness of one crazy human being. i totally disagree on revenge and the poisoning job but i hope that the offender one day understands the pain he has caused to so many people. it'll do much more to him than death.

I suppose this is not truly the place to express my opinions on God and the death penalty. That being said, I do have to dip back in to the past having been baptized as a Catholic, if not solely for my own introspection. I do hope that those who are suffering the loss of lost ones find comfort in believing in something else beyond after they close their eyes for the last time. As bizarre as some of my religion's practices (an eye for an eye, etc) I think I spoke out of turn before the entire story is told. I did hear from friends in Colorado, and they are beyond grief, although they personally did not suffer any personal family loss. I do hope that this tragedy does not get trivialized. As far as watching the three movies, I may step back and wait for a few days before I can try to put this horrible thing from my thoughts. The bat will rise again, but with a heavier heart.

philly... the bat will rise again? it must be evening time at you place. here it is half past one a.m. and i´m kinda happy someone except my cat speaks to me. i totally respect if someone was raised in a religious way. i would never discuss this stuff. so be sure i understand your grief no matter what you believe in. BUT what other place would there be to discuss or express opinions than this board. where people really read or listen. if we do that in an open way. i read you man. i think we are kinda one the same path here. trivialize things means strengthen your own interests right? emotional stuff turns into politics, etc. it is a sad sad thing. basta.

I did read that and thought it was probably one of the darkest and meanest prayers I've ever read, but heyy... I tend to avoid conversations on religion on the internet!

oh sure you agnostic prick..................lol I read in the nytimes some pro gun dude was saying "what if" someone had a loaded gun with them - that that individual could have lessened the number of deaths by taking this guy out............I had to stop and think would I have done that - well first the last thing this world needs is me walking around with a loaded gun.............but yeah I guess I would have aimed for the legs or something come out the same as ryan on the death penalty.............especially knowing how many innocent folks have been convicted and/or murdered without cause

Only in america do they think of what if scenarios involving people carrying loaded guns when going to see a movie.

I fully agree, Dave, that all too often that innocent victims are put to death. There can be no argument to that. On the same note, those who are truly guilty of heinous crimes always manage to find attorneys who will argue for life sentences without parole. Sitting in a cell for 23 hours to think of their crimes and uselessness is also a deterrent, while sucking the taxpayers for their incarceration. This inhumane POS decided, while planning this kill months before, that he deserved his 15 minutes. Such evil should be eliminated. This was not a spur of the moment action, rather, well planned. IF he is found guilty he should suffer as much as his victims and their families do. I use the word IF, only for what we Americans offer as a fair trial.

all depends on your perspective on suffering................while yes the endless legal battle is incredibly stupid and an insult - personally though if i had to rot in jail for the rest of my life I probably would prefer someone sticking a needle in my arm.......so I view it as a break

ak i think your comment simply tries to wind people up. you say you don´t discuss religion on the internet but instead throw in some polemic statements? btw i don´t think it suits you. a few years ago year john demjanjuk was brought to court for nazi crimes and is responsable for the death of thousands. there simply is no sentence/verdict for something like that. so yeah, why not end his life (which probably is crap anyway)? a modern society cannot kill other people but rather control it´s need for revenge. norway has partly shown in the 'breivik-lawsuit' how sovereign society and government can work.

Well, religion isn't usually up for debate on the internet. Kinda hard to discuss the differences between seeing this guy as a demon who should eternally burn in the fires of hell and what not when I see it as a obviously psycho dude who most likely won't face any consequences in some after life. But hey, I don't know.. that's why I stick to that agnostic crap! The other thing about religion is, that we're I come from very, very few people are really religious. This is like pagan land compared to many other European countries where they are really big on the catholic church or the US (well some parts of it as I understand). So what I'm trying to say is that I personally can discuss it pretty openly here, but on the internet it's a bit different cause the other person might be really religious and often it's such a touchy subject that it really doesn't go too well. That's why we discuss how crappy Foundling is and not abortion, politics or the death penalty (until now!:)
As for the death penalty, I agree with you Ryan. I'm like just any other guy in that way that I wouldn't have much troubles with ending these mass murderers lives. Thankfully though, I don't make that call and most civilized nations have already dropped the death penalty. Unfortunately though, at least here they have a hard time doing a for life penalty that's longer than twelve years.. which is absolutely insane. I think it was just last year that a guy got his second (!) life sentence for a murder.. that is iiiiinsane. They are actually facing the same problem with the Breivik case. They are trying to figure out how to get this guy locked up for life (meaning he might end up in mental care instead of jail).. I haven't been following the case too closely though, so I don't know what's the latest situation on that. Btw, did you see Bruce pop up at the memorial gig? I <3 bruce.

Are you serious Ak11? In my opinion Bruce plays nothing but his boring "Bierfest" music for an audience which majority loves to match drinks! That's really f***ed up ! ;-)
