I've been listening to DTL for a solid week now - in the car, in the office, now in the house.  Can't play the bonus Roundhouse CD loud enough, neighbors must think I'm going insane.  Do CD's "wear out"?   I think I may need medical attention ... less than three weeks 'til the show in Louisville ... YIPPEEE!!!!

    Cheers from Pam in Tampa!

Fantastic!  I know they don't wear out, though.  If they did, mine would have a big hole wherever Kathleen is on the disc.

Another Kathleen fan - hooray for that!  I love that song so much - the way the melody waltzes around the lyrics - and the phrasing - just brilliant!  Like so many of DG's songs, Kathleen is pure magic.

I hope this doesn't sound too corny but I think DG paints with words.  For me, his songs are like paintings by the great masters - Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Gogh - I put David in that same category of mastery of his craft.  Then there are the Bachs and Beethoven and Mozart - DG holds his own in that bunch too, at least as far as I'm concerned.  300 years from now if there's still something called "music" I predict that people will still be listening to David Gray's music - it's that good, isn't it?  And timeless.  I wonder if he paints or draws???  Betting that he does ...

Very nicely put, Pam. And you are right. David is a graduated painter. He studied art in Liverpool. Which you can see in his photographs as well. They are beautifully composed pieces of arts. If you haven't seen them - check out David's official page on Facebook . He posted his photos on there himself . Nice to read his comments, too.

Some people will say that CD's do, in fact, have a shelf life.  However, there are some CD's I have had FOREVER.  I think as long as you take care of them and are careful with them, you're fine!  If it wears out, there will always be another one waiting.

I absolutely love Draw the Line too, I do that too.......listen to the same CD for days even weeks and then change it to another and I've done that for the past 11 years since discovering DG, so I'm pretty sure they dont wear out, otherwise mine surely would have, lol.

I do listen to other artists now and again, but to be honest their CD's are lucky to get a much play and then they're ejected to be replaced by DG.

Elysium - thanks for sharing, it's nice to know that I'm not alone.  I had to hide the Draw The Line CD from myself for a few days (but not for much longer)!  Lost Songs & White Ladder are getting worn out now ...

I like lots of different music - Delta blues, Clapton, JJ Cale, sometimes classical.  What do you listen to besides DG?

Rena - thank you for the info and thanks for all you do here on the Boards!

    Cheers everyone ~ pam

    Hi everyone,

since from the post above the thread went into a totally different direction and the David Gray music section should focus on David Gray I split the thread and moved the second part to general discussion.  You can find it right here . I think it's interesting to read who everyone listens to when it's not DG so please go on posting Music

    Best, Rena
