I heard a brand new recording from David Gray about an hour ago on Sirius/XM.  It was a cover of "Money (That's What I Want)."  Unfortunately, my son was napping in the backseat and I was going through the bank drive-through, so I didn't have a chance to listen to it as fully as I would have liked.  His vocals sounded fantastic, and it was quite energetic.  I could hear some piano along with the band, and at the end, there were gospel-like backup vocals.  How I wish I could have really listened to it!  The DJ came on afterwards and said it was a brand-new recording just released that is associated with some sort of campaign for liquor, I believe.

So does anyone have any information on this or know how to listen to this song again?  Even though it was a cover, and I don't quite get how it has to do with marketing liquor, I really enjoyed it and can't wait to hear it again without so many outside deterrents.

It was on Sirius/XM's "The Spectrum" channel around 3:15pm EDT or so.  I went on their FB page, and someone else had commented on the song as well.  I've been searching for any information on it, but I haven't turned up anything either.  I hope there is some way to hear it other than hoping to catch it again.

I just heard part of it again on a different channel.  It's only the first part of the song that is a cover of Money.  The second part is Pressure Drop and different and mellower.  It's not a gospel choir at all, though I guess I thought that on my first half-listen because they all start humming soulfully at the end. I didn't catch the beginning, so I can't say really what it was like. I need to catch the whole thing at full volume. I wish there was somewhere I could find it!

Just heard it as well.  Sounds gorgeous, and the rhythm is infectious.  Really well done for sure.
    For all that we struggle
    For all we pretend
It don't come down to nothing
    Except love in the end

Yes!  Finally someone else heard it.  And I finally had a full listen to it today too.  I was just about to get some gas for the car when it came on the radio again, so I had to pull over into a parking spot to hear the whole thing.  And you are right.  It is gorgeous.  The sound is so cool.  He really belts it out at the beginning, and it falls away gradually though the song until you are just left with the hums.  I hope that it gets put somewhere so that everyone can hear it.

Yes, what is on the radio is a blend of those two, so he did it and pulled it off!  I keep singing "It is you, yeah yeah yeah yeah..." in my head.

Thanks for the link to the interview.  That was great!

I hope that there is some way to get the song without having to buy Jim Beam.  Unfortunately, Jim Beam was my drink of choice in my college days.  I loved it so much that I even staged a wedding for my Jim Beam bottles one night in my dorm room.  Made a little veil for the bride, a snazzy top hat and bowtie for the groom, took pictures and everything.  I had a few too many remorseful mornings, however, as you can imagine, so I instantly feel sick at the merest smell of it.  I'll say that I'm slightly more refined nowadays.

What a nice surprise to come back from a few days of migraine to...

Very interesting. Thanks for finding this. The youtube links won't work as the the videos aren't available in my country. Sigh. But hoping to be able to hear this one day soon.

Thanks for the link to the interesting interview, DCA. Pretend you are from the USA everyone and JB will let you watch it.  It's always a highlight to hear David talk about his approach to music.
