David Gray

I was looking up what this Jim Beam Live Music Series is about.  Last year, they had several contests to win tickets to the shows along with meet and greets, etc.  The JB show for DG is the Chicago one.  I hope they have a contest to win tickets for that one!  I might be able to hold the JB down if it'll get me to that show!

we definitely see the staircase and of course the shiney stuff ......... they must have grabbed a table and placed it at the stairs........was also trying to zoom in on the what must be a service station but couldn't

I guess this is further proof of why they needed to kick us out of the place at 5am (7am cst mind you....)!!!

Spectrum has been playing it, more than once.  It is wonderful ...

I heard it today on The Coffeehouse, so they are also playing it, although probably not as often as Spectrum.  I hope it's available soon.  I love the combination with Pressure Drop.  PLEASE make this available for download at iTunes or Amazon.  Why does Sirius/XM (& artists & their labels) torture us by playing great songs that aren't available?  It should be a rule: if it's played on Siruis/XM, it MUST be made available for purchase!!!!

I was at a T-Bonz yesterday with my dad for lunch and they had music on in the restaurant.  Not sure what their source is but based on this thread probably sat radio.

 Anyways I could barely hear it but I was like is that David Gray singing Money.... I have to hear it for real.  I barely could hear it but I knew it was david gray.

 So there will be a code on a liquor bottle huh.... I'll gladly pay 99c or 1.29 for this song....

 I must hear this song... (i don't have Satellite Radio)

ropreston - thank you for posting about this being on "The Spectrum" on Sirius/XM. I used to subscribe to XM and a few days ago got an email saying my old receiver was being turned on for free for 2 weeks. Normally I ignore such emails but this time I dug out my old "myfi" XM receiver, plugged it in, and set it up to record "The Spectrum" for a few hours today. Well, they played it today and I finally got to hear it. It's good - interesting with the two parts - I definitely like the second part of the song much more (more soulful). It's nice to hear DG singing anything I've never heard him sing before. Thanks, again, for the heads-up.

Today I finally got to hear this new song. Wow.

What a great rendition of the two songs melted into one. Very Good.

I love the bluesy souly feeling David added to it all. Excellent.

 

Edited because I forgot to say that I sense just a touch of Dylan at his best in this rendition.

I loved loved loved it as well! I love the mix from one to the next and per our norm - as already discussed today as we prepare our joint tour navigation - I differ ever so slightly with our lovely wolfie :)

I really think he nails the first part - but I am in absolute agreement the segue into Pressure Drop is absolutely brilliant! 

That said coty heard it cold without the knowledge of what she was getting and was very meh - her comment was this isn't DG singing to me - nor does she quite care for money so that is a bit of an issue lol - I will say I have heard varying opinions - I will agree it is no Force of Nature

but if you are listening..........you better BRING IT this summer lol!!!!!

And of course, it's no Force Of Nature. It's a cover so how could it ever get anywhere near a David Gray original. But as a cover it is David at his best, making the song his own in a very special individual way. One of those renditions that are so good that I will never care to listen to the original versions again...
