This week two great new cds were released. - Phosphorescent's new album Here's To Taking It Easy. Very very good. It does not sound the slightest bit like I expected it to be. Which makes it even better in my opinion. This album is full of musical surprises. Highly recommendable.
- The National's new album High Violet. What a beauty is this one. Intelligent and deep. This record blew me away. I am very enthusiastic about it.
Both albums haven't been released in all countries yet but should be available next week at the latest.
I feel very lucky that both bands will be playing in my home town over the next couple of weeks. And I do have tickets
Which albums are you listening to at the moment? And any opinions on the ones I have mentioned above?

Bought recently "Pursuit" from Jamie Cullum and "A Curious Thing" from Amy McDonald and listend to both a lot. Have a listen to High Violet and like Matt Berningers Voice I will have a closer listen to it later. But i almost sure i will add both albums to my shopping list.
Thanks Rena Your clues are always a good chance to discover new music for me.

Hi All, Have listened to most of the stuff mentioned, although I have not picked up the new Phosphorescent up yet. A few recent favorites of mine: - MGMT - Congratulations (listen to Siberian Breaks...)
- Angus & Julia Stone - Down the way (had never heard of them before...)
- Joanna Newsom - Have one on me (lots of tracks... )
- Tim Knol - Tim Knol (great debut for dutch singer-songwriter)
- The Tallest Man on Earth - The Wild Hunt
I could go on for a bit but hey I am curious what you are listening to instead ! Take care. Marcel.

eyewall:Leonard Cohen: Live in London
Good choice, eyewall! Looking forward to seeing LC a few times this year! Tamikrest! Young Tuareg musicians from Mali! "..riffs that sound like a dream come true: Keith Richards, Ry Cooder & Ali Farka Toure picking side by side under an unforgiving sun" (D. Fricke from US-Rolling Stone). Great! http://www.myspace.com/tamikrest
DIRTMUSIC - Chris Eckman, Chris Brokaw and Hugo Race, perform live their new BKO album recorded in Mali, Africa, together with Tuareg rockers TAMIKREST on May 19! This is probably the ONLY chance the UK will get to see the two bands interacting and co -performing their respective albums in a freestyle concert drawing on a range of genres from desert rock to experimental. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT MISS THIS EVENT!!!'. This London concert is only part of the tour itinerary - for complete tour listings across Europe this summer please see myspace.com/dirtmusicband
Editors: their third album is much better than I expected. They have made an interesting step forward towards electro! http://www.myspace.com/editorsmusic

Had a listen to the new album of The National. Despite of their 'odd' (imo) band name they did a beautiful dark album. Also interesting the guest players’ contributions, from Sufjan Stevens to Justin Vernon (Bon Iver!) to Richie Reed Parry of the Arcade Fire! Thx for the hint, Rena!

Thanks for the background info NM. I would like to add that their lyrics quite impressed me. They show a quality of doubt that so far I have found only in David's songs. David is the better poet by far but they have got something.

Nice voice. Will keep an eye on here. Reminds me a bit of Aimee Mann.

Bob Dylan. Actually, watching "No Direction Home". Fascinating story about Dylan's life.

NO album in particular. Going back in time though. Liking my old Buzz bin from MTV. Blind melon, cracker, radiohead, danzig,. Also liking some counting crows, mazy starr, smashmouth, squirrel nut zippers. Kinda getting a blast from the past tonight.
