davidcotyalex: I competely don't get why someone who does buy tix at stubhib is by definition a blowhard.........that doesn't make any sense to me
I second this! I got shut out of the presale for the Chicago Theatre show last year and then couldn't get anything on the floor during the regular sale, either. It was a show I couldn't miss, however, so I ended up buying my tickets from Stubhub. I wasn't happy about having to spend so much but I was glad to have had some way of securing my tickets. I can assure you that I am a respectful fan. I just did what I had to do to be at a show I had my heart set on attending. I've used StubHub to buy tickets in other situations. Yes, I was fortunate to be able to do that and I understand that not everyone can. I like good seats and sometimes have to go the StubHub route to get them - that doesn't make me a moron. I do feel badly for those who couldn't get tickets during the presale. I have been in that position many times over the years. I too have some concerns about the presale situation. I made the decision today to bypass the Chicago presale here and go straight for the Live Nation one instead. I got lucky and got in right away. The HOB is not a huge venue and David has a lot of fans in Chicago but I am keeping my fingers crossed for everyone for the general sale on Friday! If you really want to go to the show don't let the fact that the presale today was a bust ruin it for you. Think positive and good luck!

Geez, through my ranting and raving, I left a bad impression on some. StubHub users are not morons, I guess I was sounding off about being shut out. The loudmouthed morons remark was directed at those who likely not fans as we are, as past shows have shown. Idiots who sit in the front and talk loudly and cause a general upset to those who cherish the time we get to spend with him were facing my verbal wrath. I stand corrected. It bothers me, I suppose, that being naive, I trust my credit card number more with this board than I do with StubHub. I'm gonna have a nice dinner of crow, with humble pie for dessert and explore my options. Come hell or high water, I still plan to be there (giving my friends here the chance to berate me, and deservedly so).

Phillydog, no worries - I understand your frustration. Just wanted to put my perspective out there because it kind of struck a nerve with me. I wish things were different with the ticket buying/selling situation but they aren't and I just try to maneuver the maze the best I can - even if that includes the occasional StubHub purchase or such. Anyway, the general sale is tomorrow and I hope you give that a try. If that doesn't work out, I am sure there will be lots of extra tickets floating around. It will all work out!!

Wolfie: I think what you said is verbatim of my experience for that Chciago show. It was a not-to-miss gig for me & I had bad luck with presales. Ended up lucking out 3 days before the show (and broke down to buy) 2nd row thru Stubhub. Not my choice, but I never regretted it. :) Made the drive down from Milwaukee that much more worth it!! Secondly, in Milwaukee we have a group who runs the Pabst and Riverside Theaters here and they have this amazing system for concerts....maybe powers that be can read this and keep returning to Riverside, as David occassionally does. Anywho, they only have presales through their ticket sales people (Tickets.com i think), or through the bands presale. ABSOLUTELY NO purchase and resale of tickets is allowed. They frequently re-release seats for a lot of shows within 48 hrs of shows due to scalpers, etc being caught. Its VERY efficient and fair to all. I've seen some of the best concerts at these 2 venues over the last 5 yrs!! in fact, I scored front row for shows like Sinead O'Connor, Norah Jones, Erasure, Diana Krall, Harry Connick Jr., etc and generally never an issue to be within the 1st 5 rows! So if ANY of you plan on a Milwaukee stop for his future dates, keep these 2 mentioned venues in mind-excellent ticket marketing system and amazing venues!! :) I wish more places were like this, because it benefits the fans. Also have to remember that venues like HOB are owned by the Live Nation people, so ultimately Live Nation is the people calling the shots at who they sell what allotment of tix to whom they wish (BOOOOO!!!!) lol ps- did i mention that the days of sleeping out in front of the record store for good tickets is sorely missed :) DAMN YOU TECHNOLOGY!!! lol Now here's to everyone trying to get their tix tomorrow, like myself...good luck all! :)

Fingers crossed (I'll uncross them to manipulate the keyboard). My hopes are high for everyone that was disappointed the other day. To Wolfie- my blood pressure has dropped to an acceptable level. Thank you for the "Think positive and good luck". I will remember that as I plod along through the buying process. That being said- I'm looking forward to meeting y'all (not a typical New York expression).

Sure you did. That's why Ticketmaster told us at 10:00 sharp they were sold out.

I certainly did...I kept clicking through the "no tickets available" screen again and again and again...i must have gotten lucky when someone who had reserved two tickets didn't buy them. It is not uncommon for concerts that are "sold out instantly" to have tickets available for 25 minutes or so. I believe you have 3 minutes on the first screen once tickest are allocated to you, 4 minutes on the ticketmaster log-in screen, and 9 minutes on the check out screen....that is 16 minutes.

Don't take everything at face value...it didn't acutally say "sold out"...it said "not available at this time"....the screen also instructed you to try again as tickets may become available.

I found out that Stubhub is owned by Ticketmaster. It all adds up now. No wonder this concert and many others are sold out instantly and all the tickets appear on Stubhub at that very same second. Someone should file a lawsuit.

Actually Stubhub is owned by eBay...and has been since 2007. I believe the parent company of Ticketmaster is Live Nation. Stubhub itself doesn't actually own any tickets...the company simply serves as an intermediary between the seller ( broker, individual who can't attend, season ticket holder etc... ) and the buyer ( people who get shut out of concerts or have the means to simply pay for whatever seat / quantity they want ). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StubHub Information isn't hard to find if you actually look for it. A familiarization with sites like Live Nation / Ticketmaster along with a little patience will go a long way next time you want tickets at face value.
