Geez, after 6 shows, I'm not 100% sure. For the music alone, I have to go with Camden, NJ in January '03. For the friends I attended with, probably a split between Buffalo last year and the Strathmore just 2 weeks ago.

Difficult to mention one (after about 25.. I don't really count), but there is quite a few that are very special.... like the first one, both times in Brussels, Amsterdam (melkweg), Luzern, Red Rocks, Cambridge, Dublin, London, all sorts of places and all for different reasons...all recent 3 (finally went to see him in NYC)...

Your second question is even more interesting, ones I would have liked to attend.. I have heard all kinds of good stuff about Copenhagen so next time I will be there... and next time in San Francisco...

I know... lousy answers but there you go Stick out tongue

    Marcel.

I have to go with Marcel - I am not sure either on the running total but yeah I am somewhere around 25 as well...............

Let me answer it this way - I cannot think of a single gig that has disappointed so I would start off saying each and every last one have been incredibly special.......................

I don't know Rena I would have to put Bare Bones Luzern 07 very near the top of the list - especially so as it was our first DG gig!!

Other stand outs would be Boston on the second night of the Ray tour (after Olivia had gone back to NYC) - that was probably the most crazed I have seen him with the scissor kicks etc; Houston to kick off DTL was great as was New Orleans and Austin (first night); SF Masonic was indeed a great gig as was mentioned in that thread today as well as the acoustic set for he Mountian Music Festival outside Seattle.............and i would definitely throw in the three lost and found gigs - hard to pick which one was the most special but I still give deference to Boston just because of the crowd..............but DC was also very cool in its own right because of the venue and NYC gigs are always raised up a notch

I would also point out that for me the little pr private deals he does have also been extremely memorable with Dublin at Anseo of course leading the pack but as well Santa Barbara in the cafe and Boston/Cambridge in the little studio.....................

    So many memories!

I 've copied this from my post from the church studio gig, i have such wonderful memories of this gig. May 06
    What an amazing experience.
Arrived at Church studio at 6pm to be 1st row, talking to tour crew who kept nipping out for a smoke(see England shirt thread in general).
The church is beautiful its enormous.
Anyway doors opened 7pm and we were treated to pickies and alcohol got carried away a little with the red wine.(never mind)
Martin Collins came on and introduced Dg who he said he was a fan off and had followed since early in his career.
DG came on and commented on How close we were there wasn't even a gap or stage we were all on the floor, i was stood 6ft away when he was on guitar and about 4ft from his piano.
Now much chat just got on with the singing, could actually see the set list taped on the floor in front of him - as followsHospital
    Babylon
    Slow Motion
    Silver
    TOIL
    Nos Da Cariad
    (T.Y.L)
LatelyI managed to get my 1st setlist along with his towel, bottle of water and my shirt signed. We also recieved a signed photograph as we left the building.
Afterwards just sat in the coffee shop over the road amazed.
Then walked up the Broadway for a kebab, chatting to one of his crew who was at the bus stop who i also seen in the hotel room the next day.
Forgot to mention that Rob was not there a different guy on bass who i was also talking to as i was leaving my hotel room could hearing him playing LISM earlier, told him he was really good on guitar he told me he was giong back to the church for rehearsals as they were off to Germany at Wkend. Trevor informed me that Robs wife just had baby thats why the other guy was playing.
Anyway gonna go now and get some rest,
Although this was an amazing experience, what dreams are made of, but it was over way to soon, i could have stayed there forever.
    Other special gigs include;
My very first, wow i was so excited for this one at T in the park festival  july 2001, not the best location for a gig ( 1 of 70, 000 people), i later learnt that up close and personal is best, but was i was finally watching David sing live, i was in heaven.
In Sept 01, my first real gig  at the Manchester Appollo, wow i was second row, this rocked i was totally blown away. Manchester gigs are always special. My first meet and pic with Dg, sadly pic was too dark to see, still got the  memories though.
So many more to mention - The apple store in London, just David his Giutar and Piano, First time i heard Shine live ( i cried)
Hull arena 06- first met Djk
Newcastle Arena Nov 02 as this was the first Close to home and first time front row.
Dublin Castle, beautiful setting with amazing friends.
Dublin 02 Dec 09 such an amazing gig, blew me away, finally got to see Dg at the point, front row too, again wonderful company.
The Academy Newcastle Close to home, wonderful company and my first dg pic what actually turned out, courtesy of Djk.
The Sage Gateshead,Dec 09 wow what a venue and again wonderful company, secretly hoping Dg takes his Lost and found tour here. The sound was amazing. Again all the more special as its close to home.
Bare bones tour Kilmarnock Scotland so special.
And last but certainly not Least Hamburg( my 25th gig- Now and always springs to mind, it blew me away) and Berlin, what an amazing experience, my first time in Germany and seeing Dg outside of Uk & Ireland, felt blessed to attend those gigs in the company of such wonderful friends, lovely tour of Berlin, beautiful but so cold,   sadly the last time i seen Djk.
Sheffield, Oxford and i could i forget the Cambridge corn exchange, now that was some gig.
And how could i forget the wonderful weekend in Norfolk with dear friends and the Thetford forest gig, what a beautiful part of the Uk.
To be honest each and every one of the 27 gigs( definitely counting) and been so special to me.
This has definitely brought out my OCDG, i'm gonna go before some shoots me, lol
Sorry for waffling on so much but i could go on all night, so many memories, cant wait for this lost and found tour in the uk.
    Gigs i would have loved to attend;
    Lucerne
    The point 99
    Whelans 98
    The Boardwalk Sheffield 99.

    Your smiles at the wedding

Those are some very cool/special memories Elysium, thank you for sharing them, nice to see your name back in the forums.

I respectfully envy the many of you on this board who have seen so many shows and traveled all these amazing places.

Im also very grateful that David supports the taping and that we have the archives collection to enjoy.

That's easy.....standing about 15 feet from the stage at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC with an unknown Five for Fighting opening up for him.   Much different/better crowd than any other show since.

Gee there are some impressive tallys that some of you have gathered up over time. Due to my home being isolated from the multiple show opportunities of Europe and America I have only seen David live twice. The best was at Brisbane's Festival Hall in 2003. The set list for that show was similar to that of Live at the Point except with a collection from A New Day at Midnight thrown in instead of some of his earlier pieces.

The place went off and the memory of the crowd standing on their seats waving as the band played Say Hello, Wave Goodbye will remain with me forever. That was close to eight years ago now and sadly Festival Hall no longer exists. David has not been to Brisbane since that show. Live at the Point would be the show that I would have liked to have been at.
