David Gray

Just browsing youtube today and came across the song "Alive." I knew about this song but never gave it a good listen, it's a crazy good tune! Classic David Gray with a Life in Slow Motion sound to it. I can't believe it hasn't been recorded yet, well at least officially. Does anyone know where I can find a good quality version of it? Probably not, but I hope this song gets on an album, who knows maybe the next albums title will be "Alive"

Alive is a great song indeed. It was written during the Life In Slow Motion period but did not make it onto the album. The first time it was played to an audience was Feb 4, 2006 in Berlin. The first DG concert I ever went to. There is a good recording of the song on archive.org taken during the US leg of the LISM tour. I remember David saying something along the lines of 'this is the first time this is played at altitude' so maybe it was Denver. I will try and find a link for you when I get to my computer.

Thank you Rena, it is such a beautiful song. I to can't believe this was not recorded for an album. But I bet David has many songs put away that are just as incredible that did not make the albums :)- Maybe he needs to put out an album called songs that didn't make it lol.

Song's awesome (it's also on the Murat boot on archive), but I have a hard time seeing him releasing it like that with the PFM-y Clune drum beat. Well, who knows what will happen..

while yeah you never know I tend to agree AK - goes with All the Love in my opinion as some of the greats that never found a place.....

 

This song should be on the next album, hoping for something upbeat.  Suits this beautiful Thanksgiving weekend we are having up here.  Enjoy the turkey Canucks!

Great song, and nicely put DCA. This conjures up the saddest image of David's sweet little vagabond songs looking for a home! Like puppies at a shelter! Think we could all agree on a track list for "David's Homeless Hits'?? All the Love, Alive, Northern Sea...what else should we add?

Have you seen David perform live? He played this song on the 2006 tour.

No, I'm 16 and I saw David Gray my first Time in Colonge, Germany with his Draw the Line Europe Tour in 2010.

I heard his Music 2006 too, but not so much like I do now ;)

The Song Alive I found for three Days and I thought, that's it !

Quiet beautiful and intelligent Song.
