    Rich,

Thanks for the heads up.  Will def get tickets for this.  I'm having DG withdrawals and it's only been a few weeks since I was at a gig.

    Cheers

    Lou

I missed the show at the Convention Centre (parents were over for a weeks holiday in Ireland!)...trust me I was gutted! So am desperate for a DG gig. Last one was Christmas 2009. Far too long.

Rich - those are such great news. I have been down and busy with family and job emergencies and that's the best possible news to return to. Thanks a million for letting us know.

I think for this I will have to cancel a long hiking weekend with friends which has been planned for months now - but not a second thought. Priorities are clear with this one Cool

    Take care

Not sure of all the details of the show but really looking forward to it (presuming I get tickets tomorrow!). Vicar Street is a great venue.

Glad you have your priorities right :-)

It was a dream come true (sounds cheesy) but just eat, sleep and breathe his music.  Need another fix ha ha. Neill MacColl is just fantastic too, could look/listen to him do his thing all night.

    So am I... Smile

And I will be happy no matter what the details of the show will be. I flew to Dublin to see him perform 3 songs and let me tell you I would fly to see him play just one. He is that good.

Sorry you missed the concert at the Convention Centre. Such a brilliant night.

Edited to say that I second everything you say about Neill MacColl, Lou!

In all of my excitement I forgot to mention that I was lucky and could see LIR featuring Robbie Malone perform live in Dublin; at the charity show David Gray also performed at in spring 2010. They seemed to have quite the reputation in Ireland, judging from the way they were announced and then were received by the audience. Something to look forward to!

Sorry to hear they had to face those legal issues, I wasn't aware of that.

‘With a little Help from our Friends’Lir

    Live at Vicar St.

    Saturday 24th September

    David Gray

    LIR

    PUGWASH

This is a benefit show for the band LIR.

Tickets €26 on sale this Friday at 9am!

The story of Dublin band LIR both on and off the stage is an interesting one.

The final chapter of the off stage saga that has been the legal proceedings taken against the band comes to a head at The High Court in November after 14 long years.

The action against the band has been taken by a former manager over an alleged breach of contract centring on an ill-fated tour of the USA in 1995.

With vast defence costs to raise, a benefit show ‘With a little Help from our Friends’ has been organised to assist the band.

LIR are privileged to announce that the internationally acclaimed David Gray has offered his significant talents to help the band in their time of need and will perform at their benefit show at Vicar St. on Saturday September 24th. Tickets are €26 on sale this Friday July 29th at 9am through Ticketmaster and other usual outlets nationwide. Booking Line: 0818 719 390.

(Dubliner Robbie Malone, David Gray’s bass guitarist since 1999, was the bass player with LIR)

LIR are also delighted to announce that Pugwash will also be performing at the show.

With a new album out in August, the country will soon be humming to more inspired sounds from the Thomas Walsh fronted Dublin band.

The LIR tale is indeed an interesting one – so interesting in fact that Irish Film Director Shimmy Marcus has just completed a forthcoming feature length documentary on the band ‘Good Cake Bad Cake’, which will have its premiere should the legal wrangling ever come to an end.

It promises to be a wonderful evening’s entertainment and a worthy cause to support.

What great news and how much would I love to be able to attend!!! But in September with school starting, don't think my class would be to happy if I skipped out of work the second week into school starting back :(.

Hope all who attends has a wonderful time..Love LIR. and having DG there as well = sweetness.

Loulabelle~ Neill MacColl is just fantastic too, could look/listen to him do his thing all night. I couldn't agree more with you on that. I could sit in awww listening to Neill sing and perform all night...very magical he is.You know Neill is doing another concert to tribute, Nick Drake in Australia come Nov. Hope it makes it to the states, now that would be a show to see.Big Smile
