In all of my excitement I forgot to mention that I was lucky and could see LIR featuring Robbie Malone perform live in Dublin; at the charity show David Gray also performed at in spring 2010. They seemed to have quite the reputation in Ireland, judging from the way they were announced and then were received by the audience. Something to look forward to!
Sorry to hear they had to face those legal issues, I wasn't aware of that.

PUGWASH
This is a benefit show for the band LIR.
Tickets €26 on sale this Friday at 9am!
The story of Dublin band LIR both on and off the stage is an interesting one.
The
final chapter of the off stage saga that has been the legal proceedings
taken against the band comes to a head at The High Court in November
after 14 long years.
The
action against the band has been taken by a former manager over an
alleged breach of contract centring on an ill-fated tour of the USA in
1995.
With vast defence costs to raise, a benefit show ‘With a little Help from our Friends’ has been organised to assist the band.
LIR are privileged to announce that the internationally acclaimed David Gray
has offered his significant talents to help the band in their time of
need and will perform at their benefit show at Vicar St. on Saturday
September 24th. Tickets are €26 on sale this Friday July 29th at 9am through Ticketmaster and other usual outlets nationwide. Booking Line: 0818 719 390.
(Dubliner Robbie Malone, David Gray’s bass guitarist since 1999, was the bass player with LIR)
LIR are also delighted to announce that Pugwash will also be performing at the show.
With
a new album out in August, the country will soon be humming to more
inspired sounds from the Thomas Walsh fronted Dublin band.
The
LIR tale is indeed an interesting one – so interesting in fact that
Irish Film Director Shimmy Marcus has just completed a forthcoming
feature length documentary on the band ‘Good Cake Bad Cake’, which will
have its premiere should the legal wrangling ever come to an end.
It promises to be a wonderful evening’s entertainment and a worthy cause to support.
