I'm new to the forum, but just had to share my excitement with those whom I know will most appreciate the saga I have gone through in order to finally get DG tix! :)
In 2003, I bought a used iPod that had songs pre-loaded on it, three of which were DG's from the "White Ladder" album. I had heard "Babylon" when it first came out a few years prior, but hadn't really followed any of DG's music after that. The songs on the iPod included "This Year's Love", which quickly became a favorite of mine. I decided I wanted to go to a DG concert, which would be the first concert I'd ever been to. I'd gone to plenty of symphonies, ballets, etc., but never an actual concert.
Finally, in March 2006, DG was coming to Salt Lake City (I lived in UT at the time) & I could NOT have been more excited to finally get to see him...until I realized his concert fell on my nephew's birthday. I'd missed my nephew’s previous two birthdays due to the fact I was living away as a missionary for my church, so I couldn't miss it again (nor would my sister forgive me if I had) & thus, I skipped out on the concert.
Fast forward to 2010: By this point, I lived in Raleigh, NC and figured going to a DG concert would just be a lifetime goal, since I had to miss his 2010 Durham, NC concert too because I was out of town for a work convention. Attending his concert remained a lifetime goal as recently as two weeks ago or so, when I was at DPAC (where DG's concert will be) for the Wanda Syke's show. As we were walking back to the parking lot, I was lamenting to a friend that the one show I still dreamed of one day seeing is the DG concert. Little did I know that just a couple of weeks later, I'd get the advanced ticket sale notice for the DG concert coming to DPAC in July!
I about flipped when that email came through. Seriously. I put three reminders and alarms on my calendar & was on Ticketmaster immediately when the tix became available this morning—but then the site froze up when I was purchasing my tix!! (I wanted to cry.) When I finally got back in, I was going to end up at the back of the floor—which honestly, I’d be fine sitting in the rafters at this point as long as I’d actually get to hear him…but it was still disappointing to not get as good of seats as I would’ve had if the Ticketmaster site had not froze. So, I popped over here to the DG site & learned that the worst seats would be on row N, which is better than what I would’ve had with DPAC. I bought my tix as soon as they became available on DG.com & even if I am on row N, I don’t care—I will FINALLY get to go see DG live!!!!! It has taken 8 years (which is more than 1/4 of my lifetime) and numerous attempts to make it work, but it is finally happening!!! HOORAY!!!!!!! :)
