David's tribute to John Lennon made me think of a quote I once read about art and simplicity: "To drop a plumb line into the depths of life, to find thereby the great emotions common to all mankind and to express them so that all mankind will understand the expression -- this, I think, is what art is for."
I love this concept because I find modernism so atrocious! Modern poetry with it's nonsensical rambling sounds like diarrhea of the mouth to me, and modern art that no one can make neither heads nor tails of is completely useless in my opinion. The best art, no matter what the medium, needs to be understood by more then 1 person in order to have any sort of impact. Even Einstein agreed: "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not one bit simpler."
And now let's bring it back to David shall we :) David is so completely genius at translating feelings and experiences shared by everyone into lyrics and melodies. When I'm listening to DG I find myself thinking all the time...Yeah! What he said!
