Bon Iver & David Gray at the Galway Arts Festival Big Top

Galway Arts Festival is delighted to announce the first of its Festival Big Top gigs this summer. BON IVER will play on Thursday July 23rd, an exclusive for the Festival and the band’s only Irish performance of 2009. Having exploded on to the world’s stage in the past 18 months Bon Iver have garnered a legion of fans and superb critical acclaim. Creating a sound that is as beautiful as it is haunting, Bon Iver have become one of the most inspirational acts today. Don’t miss the only opportunity of 2009 to hear Bon Iver in concert in Ireland.

Famed for his electric and unforgettable live performances, Festival favourite DAVID GRAY takes to the Big Top stage on Tuesday July 21st. One of the most influential and successful British singer-songwriters of the past decade, Gray returns to Galway to perform songs from his eagerly anticipated new album along with some of his most popular songs from his multi-platinum selling recordings.  Support will be provided by David Kitt.

Pitched in the heart of Galway city centre on the banks of the River Corrib, the Festival Big Top will take prime position at the Fisheries Field – the perfect lounge location for summer evenings. Further Festival Big Top acts will be announced in the next two weeks with the full Galway Arts Festival  programme announced on Tuesday June 2nd. This year’s Festival runs from 13th -26th July.

    Hi everyone,

I merged the two threads on the Galway Arts Festival so all the conversation and info will be easier to find.

That's great news for the Irish fans indeed. First time I hear about it. Thanks for the info.

I wish I could go, DG in Ireland is special, especially when playing new songs like that website says. But no way, not this time. My daughter would never forgive me not flying to Greece with her.

So friends, who is planning to go?

Glad with any gig announced though, would we nice to reflect this on the main page...

    Take care !

    Marcel.
