Bravo chalmers! It's Mark E Smith (51) the legendary frontman of The Fall and one of the best-looking man in pop music! THX Rena! You're right! My signature shows paintings of Mark Rothko. I'm a huge fan of this artist! BTW: Since the 14. April The Guardian is publishing extracts from his upcoming autobiography Renegade, The Lives and Tales of Mark E Smith. " For fans of leftfield British pop music, this is easily as big an event as the publication of Bob Dylan's Chronicles, and on initial impressions Renegade doesn't disappoint..." Thirty two years on, The Fall have a huge discography that ranges from 30 to 60 albums, depending on whether you count their various live LPs and sessions for their greatest fan, the late Radio 1 DJ John Peel. Even David Gray had a listen to The Fall. In 2001 David Gray mentioned The Fall in an interview "...Bands from that sort-of Manchester scene, like the Fall and New Order, aged so much better than the Smiths have..." The charming Mark E Smith: as a young man:

I remember seeing The Fall live in 1988. But oh my, what has happened to that man? Doesn't look like an easy life to me.

Lol! I think that Sean O'Hagan was right when he wrote: "There are few people who, even on a bad day, can make Shane MacGowan look healthy, but Mark E Smith is one of them..."

Lol! chalmers you're a star! Of course it's James Taylor with a lot more hair than today! James Taylor today:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My new picture riddle: this musician is one of my favourites! He's an amazing songwriter, a bad walker and he's coming from Athens,Georgia, just like Michael Stipe! The likes of Madonna, The Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, Widespread Panic, Live and REM have sung some of his songs! His second last album was produced by the famous Van DykeParks ! I've seen him quite a few times live and he was always great, funny and awesome!!!

He is a good one. Recognized him at a glance but won't give it away for now. He is the only singer I've ever seen who puts as much passion into his performance as David does; although he is totally unlike David in all other respects.
Anyone any idea?

I got the James Taylor one as well - he was on Jools Holland a couple of weeks ago and showed some old clips of him. As for the latest I should be able to guess - I have never seen him but think someone has told me about him - have to search my mails for the name.
Keep smiling - It's free! Djk :-)

Vic Chesnutt saw him live in late November great singer, tiny and frail, sitting in a
wheelchair and capturing the entire venue with sheer willpower, furious
and uncompromising

Thx Rena! You're right! I second every word you said on Vic Chesnutt! This most underrated musician is amazing! I didn't hear this duet before so thx a lot to you chalmers! Somewhere is a great song! Liz Durrett and Vic Chesnutt recorded this awesome cover of Somewhere from West Side Story in 2006! Until now I only knew Tom Waits' heartbreaking version found at his album Foreign Affairs! I've seen Liz Durrett live cause she was touring with her uncle(!) Vic Chesnutt a few years ago! She has a beautiful voice! BTW at the age of 16, Liz Durrett received a guitar from her uncle, Vic Chesnutt, who encouraged her to explore the world of songwriting. This gift quickly turned into a passion, and Durrett began writing her own music shortly after receiving the instrument. Listen to Somewhere by Liz Durrett and Vic Chesnutt: http://www.lizdurrett.com/somewhere.mp3
