Some more From The Basement: Kicking off with From The Basement, a brand new groundbreaking music series with intimate live performances, allowing the artists to really take centre stage. There's no shouty celebrity host, no clapping-on-cue audience, no pyrotechnic explosions in sync with the inevitable key change crescendo - just the artists and their music.
Filmed in HD, it sets a new standard in sound quality with Grammy Award-winning music producer Nigel Godrich at the faders. If you don't have a Sky HD box to watch it on our HD sister channel (sky268) then don't worry - this is still WELL worth watching on Sky Arts 267 if you're a serious music fan. You won't be disappointed by these genuinely special performances.
Interested? Here's a taster...
Go to our centre Stage microsite to WATCH CLIPS of the featured bands' performances 15 December 2007: From the Basement: Beck, Jarvis Cocker & Jamie Lidell (Super Collider) 22 December 2007: From the Basement: Sonic Youth, Jose Gonzalez and Laura Marling 29 December 2007: From the Basement: Super Furry Animals, PJ Harvey, Operator Please and Free Blood 5 January 2008: From the Basement: Damien Rice, Autolux, E (Eels) and Architecture in Helsinki

Some will remember that David Gray did a live cover of the song "Smile Like You Mean It" from The Killers. Tonight on NBC: Tonight Show With Jay Leno with The Killers, due to the ongoing writers' strike as rerun.

This writer's strike didn't really interest me except that DG wasn't able to do that recent performance, was it on the Tonight Show or Letterman? If they are being ripped off I can understand but really in the whole scheme of things, how important are they compared to say a fireman or a nurse? Do they really have it that hard? I dunno, guess I should read more about it. Thanks for the tip Nevermind, might catch it.

DG was booked to play live at the Late Show with Jay Leno. Yes, I would valute the importants of this strike, as measured by nurses and firemans, even as low. Which does not mean that their demands are totally spurious. I've heard that, except for a few well paid writers, the majority of them seems to earn little money. But is that true? I don't know. On wikipedia I found further informations about this strike: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Writers_Guild_of_America_strike

I think someone mentioned he did play on Carson Daly, I wonder if it will be repeated somewhere or is there a site where we can watch a replay?

misterhomes mentioned that he had only "caught the last few seconds" of this show, with DG, Rob and Neill, "dressed like they were on the current tour". http://www.davidgray.com/forums/permalink/701948/701948/ShowThread.aspx#701948 I couldn't find anything about in the interwub.
