Tom Waits will tour Europe this Summer!!!

He reveals: "We are actually going to Europe - it's the constellation Eridanus, it's known for its wildly veering path and it'll be controlling and dictating our route from Spain to Dublin. I'll be giving more details as they emerge."

Tom Waits brings Glitter and Doom to Europe

    added: 22 May 2008

America’s legendary songwriter and performer Tom Waits brings his 'Glitter and Doom’ tour to Europe this summer, with two concerts at Edinburgh’s Playhouse - on Sunday 27th July and Monday 28th July - among the 15 shows he will be performing.

The European concerts follow 'Glitter and Doom’s 13 U.S. shows that open in Phoenix, Arizona, on Tuesday 17th June. The Edinburgh dates will be the first time the Grammy-winning artist has played in the city since 1987 and will be his only UK concerts on this tour.

Tickets go on sale at 9.00 am on Tuesday 27th May. Edinburgh tickets are available from the Ticket Hotline on +44 (0) 870 606 3424 and online from www.ticketmaster.co.uk. Prices will include credit card and booking fees.

The tour will be subject to new anti-scalper plans, thus attempting to ensure that every fan will pay only face value (plus normal service and handling fees) for the tickets. They will be limited to two per person with the purchaser’s name – and name of their plus one – printed on the ticket. Ticket-holders will need photo ID corresponding to the names on the tickets to gain access to the venues. Details can be found on the new Tom Waits website, www.tomwaits.com.

Waits will be touring with longtime musical ally Larry Taylor (bass), together with Omar Torrez (guitar), Patrick Warren (keyboards), Casey Waits (drums and percussion) and Vincent Henry (saxes, harmonica and guitar), all performing hollers, mambos and rhumbas.

'They play with racecar precision and they are all true conjurers. I'm doing songs with them I've never attempted outside the studio. They are all multi-instrumentalists and they polka like real men,' says Waits.

    The full European dates are:

12/07/08 - SAN SEBASTIAN, SPAIN – Auditorium Kursaal
    14 & 15/07/08 - BARCELONA, SPAIN – Auditorium Forum
    17, 18 & 19/07/08 – MILAN, ITALY – Teatro Degli Arcimboldi
    21 & 22/07/08 – PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC – KCP
    24 & 25/07/08 – PARIS, FRANCE – Grand Rex
    27 & 28/07/08 – EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND – Playhouse
    30, 31/07/08 and 01/08/08 – DUBLIN, IRELAND – The Ratcellar, Phoenix Park

'Glitter and Doom’ follows on from Waits’ ecstatically received 'Orphans’ tour of the United States in 2006,

a series of shows that sold out in minutes.
