I'm from Chicago but I caught David's New York show at The Beacon. I went with a friend who had never seen David before. I kept talking up the concert before we got there because my previous DG concerts (all in Chicago) were amazing. Being in New York I thought I would see something similar to what I've seen in Chicago but I have to say I was disappointed by the audience's over-all lack luster reaction to being at a DG concert. With the exception of two moments during the show (at the end of Babylon and then during the end of the encore) no one stood up! Everyone stayed in their seats throughout the entire show. I think there were a handful of folks who stood up during certain songs, but from what I could see the a large majority of the people stayed seated. On more than one occasion David had to motion for the audience to stand up. I felt bad for him because he was absolutely amazing on stage! The "This Year's Love" part was...well, it was what it was.

Now, I don't want to get yelled at because of what I said. I felt this way because I'm used to what Chicago audiences are like. We really get into the show! : )

Well you shouldn't get yelled at no matter what you say but in this instance you have many in agreement. I would only point out that you can stay in your seat and really get into so not sure dancing is a rerequisite - now sitting there like a bump on the log is another. I understand the audience is a critical barometer for the success of the show - I also think however that you have all kinds out there so you have to be ready to enjoy the music on its own.

And on the TYL issue you recall David (as he has been doing recently) joked around calling it the NYC TYL..............I get the feeling David is so happy about life right now that none of this affects him terribly - particularly to the fact that Boston was the following eve and he rocked the house. Chicago and Denver seem awesome as well.
