...and is hidding those recordings in his church?

DG's sound engineer Graham recently said that "David Gray likes to record all his live shows" .

     http://www.davidgray.com/forums/thread/699511.aspx

Crowded House are recording their concerts also but they offer these recordings to their fans to buy!

    Have a look:

    "Concert Live

Live recordings of select UK shows on CD. Order the limited edition CD only, or bundled with the digital single, Bob Clearmountain's mix of Pour Le Monde, for just £15. Pick up your CD from the venue after the show, or have it posted to you(...)

    http://www.crowdedhouse.com/s_store/store.php

    CROWDED HOUSE LIVE

High quality live recordings from select Crowded House shows in USA and Canada, taken straight from the sound desk. North American fans can order a mail order CD or download a selection of the shows from here (...)"

David Gray ist a great live performer hence there is no reason to hide his live recordings! So how about offering a few of those recordings on this website? Isn't this a good idea?

It's common knowledge that DG records his sets, and a lot of his show are available on here  http://www.archive.org/index.php

Those recordings on archive.org are great but recordings actually taken from his soundboard would certainly be something else. Besides we would be able to get more gigs then.

I really like the way Crowded House are handling this. DG would have control of the sound quality (I think he would like that aspect) and his fans would be able to get the very gig they have been to. And for myself, of course I would buy them all Smile

I think this is a brilliant idea. Somebody on here mentioned a band who even sold the cds right after the gig. I just can't remember which band it was though. Maybe somebody can help me out here, please?

Didn't Pearl Jam do that for awhile?

Even if DG offered periodic live discs similar to what DMB does that would be great, but right off the sound board of the show you went to would be awesome.

If you don't mind some gal whispering "montreux live jazz" every few minutes the recording of his montreux gig of a few years back is exceptional quality.....

and while there is a bit of leg work involved (ie the quality of the gigs vary greatly) there are some very good ones on archive.org - the point gigs in dublin come to mind off the top of my head

To give an example: today Crowded House offer their fans about 30 of their live shows to purchase per download MP3, flac or CD.

Even Crowded House release not all their live shows. But anyhow they are offering 30 of their shows! That's not bad. I'm quite sure, that some of David Gray's live recordings even according to him are good enough to offer to his fans!
