    • Be Mine
    • Hospital Food.

    • ========================================
    • This year's love
    • Please forgive me

Okay so the concert was done by mix 98.5 the radio station, and some stupid girls would not stop screaming.. they died out later. some got thrown out actually haha..    So.. Shine was so powerful..so powerful...... He introduced Neil and Robbie, "they are both magnificent people" and did babylon and he just looked at us like WOW.. then he said "aaaahh boston." and started.(there were many people who gave standing Ovations after every song''. He finished... the rest of the acoustic gig was great, as i'm leaving was something special, sound was great, HE sounded at his absolute best - i've never seen him be so happy while he played!!!...... but the accompaniment was kinda drowned out. Loud gig on the whole.

FYHCASTS was phenominal, keith did a fine job...it was more powerful than last time.. and thus, the concert:

We passed a "invisible imaginary line.. kinda like the equator" bringing the true concert in. World to Me was great!! Sail was done very well, the electric added a new element to it.. the lighting was great for that. Lighting overall was awesome.. I looove lighting effects.

Be Mine, that was an experience live... right before he played he was just bouncing getting ready for it.. keith followed shortly after... his improv was great, "holy gazelle, what am i doing holy Sh!t what the hell..".. Slow Motion was awesome, the thin-beamed lights just circulating with the star backdrop just made it feel like it was actually snowing and you were alone, like the song says. It took you to that place... So he actually couldnt have his piano in the theater, so he was like "so i'm trying to make friends here with this .. ___ box.. But hey.. that's showbiz eh?"

--Hospital food had great changes to it.. i cant help but mention how everyone was drinking water for like 10 seconds inbetween songs.. keith was just looking around bottle in hand took a sip and kept looking.. Meanwhile Dave is LOOKING at him ready to go.. keith see's him and is like *AH!!* and drops the bottle and *bang bang* hospital food.

"Destroyer" was SO GOOD. "like visions of goya, the rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrremorseless destroyer"... they slowed it down nice and easy..wow.....all i can say.

So he got ready for the One I Love, guitar in hand.. standing with power and he's like "Okay.. i gotta get in the stance...*realizes guitar is out of tune*..." a few seconds go by he's like "what the hell is this..... *gets it fixed.. looks up with a grin.. and with fist in air* YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" it was so funny.

Nightblindness. wow i havent seen that live yet, but intro with drums cutting out was GREAT!!!.. then he got into it, girls stopped screaming once he got into this newer verse type thing.. he was singing about how he saw his girl with a new guy.. and the fury you could feel in his playing, he did kindof a "Freedom" type solo but with everyone, i tried to keep my head from bobbing with him too much. All his stuff just took me to another place.

The other Side was so raw, so deep.. it was great. "If.. I .. lose.. my ..way .. i'm.. on .. the other side"...

This years love as the encore.. awesome, people dancing in the aisles, people completely f*cking it up with the WHOAHWHOAHWHOAHWHYYYYYYing... very touching, dave loved it he actually was laughing at one point.. haha..

........and lastly, please forgive me..........Keith has sold me ladies and gentlemen, THIS DRUMMER has got what it takes. My camera ran out of battery right after it ended and i got the end on my camera. Poor Neil had technical difficulties towards the end, but dave and rob covered for it.. but wow it was awesome. I started the clap up again after it lost momentum during the quiet part as it always does, i screamed "COME ON BOSTON!!!" and just fed the fire. you all needed to know that.

This show, i think was better than the agganis arena.. and i STILL DIDNT MEET HIM!!!!!  i was by the bus for an hour and his driver told us he was flying and wasnt coming our way.. but what an experience, this was an amazing concert.

VIDEOS ARE UP!!!!!!! .. PICTURES ARE TOO!!!! check the pic section!!!

Boston was an amazing show, the highlight of which was certainly Nightblindness.

What I found most interesting was David's apparent surprise at the fact that people love him and his music. I've spent the last year working back in time trying to hear every song he's ever put out there, and each new (old) discovery is like Christmas. Songs like Clean Pair of Eyes and Falling Down the Mountainside are like masterpieces that have been forgotten in some cellar. They really ought to be brought up and aired out.

I guess there are a lot of people who would have preferred that David simply play Babylon and Sail Away and Please Forgive Me. But I'm thrilled that David veered away from simply performing his most popular songs and dug back in the archives. He appears to love these lesser-known songs as much as I do, and I was so happy to have seen them brought to life.

Destroyer, by the way, is phenomenal. Well worth a listen or two. And I can't wait for the new cover album. Wasn't that Johnny Cash I heard last night?

Got a setlist and also on it but not played were Aint No Love (After Shine) and Late Night Radio (on the encore between TYL and Forgive).  Would have loved to hear those.

Awesome performance, I will try and post pics later.

And thank you to the David Gray fan club.  I did the presale and had third row center.  It does not get much better than that.  And the people around us were very respectful and familiar with most of his songs, which made the show even more fun!

Thanks for a great review of a great show.  It was our 4th or 5th DG show and we're kicking ourselves in the arse for not keeping up to date on all things David Gray.  The entire night we kept asking "Where the F is Clune???"  Sorry, but the show was not as fun as past shows and it's hard not to blame that on lack of a bright hawaiian shirt at stage right.  For sure, the new guy Keith is talented... he definitely rocked out the solo in Please Forgive Me.  But the evening started with a disappointing absence for us and perhaps that tainted the rest of the show. I can't find any news or threads about the split... can anyone fill me in on what happened?

That was the most amazing show I have ever seen!  I really am not one to get all "groupie" but the show was phenomenal, even bringing me to tears a few times.  The kick drum could've been brought down a little (we were left orchestra, 4 rows back from the speakers and literally felt our hair blowing in the breeze of each beat) but WOW!

Glad to hear those annoying girls got thrown out.  How I wanted someone to shut them up.  I loved how David tried to quiet them down by encouraging them to "take a breath" as he played & sung Night Blindness.  Beautiful

    Hi velospeed!

Have a look at this David Gray letter where David himself tells you why Clune has a "rest"...

I think with Keith on the drums DG sounds much more powerful and even better! IMO!Huh?

Here are links to an interesting interview and a David Gray podcast :

Awesome - thanks for doing this!!!!!!

It certainly helps demonstrate how pumped the crowd was vis a vis the discussion in the NYC Terrible thread
