Thanks everyone So far so good. Delicious brunch at my sister-in-law's house, a few gifts, and movie (We Are Marshall) with the hubby later. We were going to do dinner, but I wanted to be home with the kid for Christmas Eve, so we'll take a raincheck on it. It's so nice of you guys to take time out of your holidays to send me wishes...it means a lot Thank you!

Aww thanks again everyone. Just now getting a minute to sit and breathe after the Christmas flurry. It was a very nice birthday. We saw "We Are Marshall" and were both near tears the whole time. Great movie, and so moving because it was all true and done quite respectfully. Afterward, we came home, put the kid in his "My First Christmas" jammies, read "The Night Before Christmas" and put him to bed. Then we wrapped gifts and crashed at nearly midnight. I loved it!Katy, having my birthday on Christmas Eve really sucked as a kid, because it was always sort of lost in the shuffle of visiting relatives, big meals and baking, shopping and wrapping gifts, etc. My mom always tried really hard and did a good job of making a big deal and keeping it separate, but I got tons of Christmas cards with "P.S. Happy Birthday" written on the left-hand side of the card . That's just wrong to do to a kid, you know? Occasionally I'd get a birthday gift wrapped in Christmas paper from a relative. It always felt like an afterthought, like "Oh sh!t, it's Noelle's birthday...here take this and give it to her today instead of tomorrow". I used to have my best friend spend the night on the 23rd and go home after breakfast on the 24th, which was cool. We've been best friends since we were six years old so her parents were cool with the arrangement. I wanted to have big sleepovers like the other girls and have my mom bring cupcakes to school on my birthday, but we were never there on my birthday! Now though, being an adult with a child and a big family nearby, it's cool because it's all about being together with them. Out-of-towners are usually in for the holidays, and I figure that if I had a birthday in, say, June they might not be here! So that's my silver lining. And now, I'm so excited to do the cool Christmas Eve things with my son that I kind of feel done with my birthday in the afternoon (part of that also might be because I've entered my thirties and want to turn my head away and pretend it's not so!). My hubby is also really great at making my birthday a special day. He threw me a surprise party a couple of weeks ago, which completely stunned me. He was so nervous that I'd gotten a clue, but I was so dumbfounded and it was a really great night. You probably didn't want a dissertation, but I have strong feelings on the subject No December babies for me!![ 27 December 2006: Message edited by: Jocelyn1224 ]
