    Hello David!

I don't know why I am writing to you in this post, as I am quite sure you will never read it - so I am going to do the down-to-earth version.

I am, (like so many other people) a huge fan of yours. I live in Denmark where noone else around me even knows about you, which can be quite lonely at times. I listen to a lot of your music and I have gotten a lot of inspiration from you!

I've been writing a few songs, trying to insert some abstract phrases like you do so well. If there's anyone I'd like to hear live, it's you!

Here's to link to one of my songs. I wrote it and performed it by myself:

Hope to see you in Denmark sometime, as I don't have the money to see you elsewhere.

    - Daniel Barber, 14 years old :)

Hello Daniel and welcome to the forums.

Firstly i would like to say what a lovely voice you have, really enjoyed listening to your songs, i'm amazed that you're only 14 years old. You're voice reminded me of Damien Rice, before i heard your cover of Cannonball, which was excellent by the way.

My 16 year old daughter said you have an amazing voice too and that you should go on the x factor and you would win, lol.

Sadly its unlikely that David will read your post as he doesn't read these forums as far as i'm aware.

I'm sure you will get to see David live one day and you will be blown away.

David hopefully will tour Europe maybe next year when he releases a new album. He did stop in Copenhagen on the Draw the Line tour in early 2010.

Which is your favourite album/song of Davids?

    Hello Elysium

I am aware of that this message will probably never reach him, but at least it feels as if though I am making an effort - you know? :)

Thanks a lot for the positive feedback on my videos, you can say hello to your daughter from me and tell her that I really appreciate it :)
I have also listened to a bit of Damien Rice, and so one day my guitar teacher gave me the sheet music for Cannonball, and I then recorded my own interpretation of the melody. It helps when it's a good song ;)

I really hope he'll come to Denmark soon, it would be an amazing experience. I recently experienced an "Eagles" concert in Hamburg, Germany - it was truly a night to remember!

My favorite song by David (and my favorite song full stop) is "Shine" from the album "Shine: The best of his early years". It is very simple but leaves you with this amazing feeling inside, - a feeling only David Gray and Bob Dylan can get out of me. It also has an important message, I think.

My favorite album of his would probably be "A New Day at Midnight", although I enjoy most of his music and I have just thrown all of it into one big playlist in iTunes, so I can have it playing in the background.

    What would be your favorite?

    Hi Daniel,

I agree Shine was always my favourite until David released Draw the Line and then Nemesis took that number one slot. I noticed that you said it was from Shine- Best Of The Early Years, have you not heard A Century Ends his first album where Shine is from?

I will give my daughter your regards thankyou and you're very welcome.

My favourite album, mmm, do you know i asked you and i dont think i can decide myself, i love them all, at the moment i'd have to say Foundling. The recent Lost and Found tour has just been amazing beyond belief.

I seen David in Hamburg last year at the Gross Freiheit, now that was an amazing gig, i will remember forever. At which venue did you see the Eagles? Although i have never seen The Eagles before i am sure that you will be even more blown away with David when you get the chance to see him.

Might i just add that you have very very good taste in Music for a 14year old.

You'll find lots of videos and other great stuff on here. Have you checked out archive.org theres lots of audio of Davids gigs dating back as early as the nineties, probably from before you were born.

Stick around and join the mailing list and you'll be one of the first to hear about any future gigs.

    Heya,

I do like some of his newer stuff, but it's the old music I prefer. It's a bit of nostalgia for me, - I remember when I was an ankle-snapper, I'd walk into my fathers shed late at night to say goodnight, while he was playing "Dead in the Water" really loud. Fond memories.

I don't own a copy of that CD, no. However, I checked the tracks on it, and the only three songs I haven't ever heard are "Lead me Upstairs", "Living Room" and "It's all Over".

We saw the Eagles in the O2 arena - and we also checked the history of the place, and David has never played there before, apparantly.

Thanks a lot for the little comment about my music taste - I just can't bear that people my age are stuck listening to silly modern pop bands singing about whatever discriminating theme is "in" at the moment.

Thanks for the tip about the videos and such - I'll check them out when I get time! :)
