Review hmm don't know were to begin. We didn't write the song list down as we were to excited and pushed against the stage anyways by the drunkin fans in the bar lol. We met Jesse for dinner around 6pm and had a nice chat with him . He is a very smart young man who know's and appreciates a lot about music. After dinner we pretty much hung out with the band in the green room(which was actually a horiffic red color) until they went on stage around 11pm. We sat and watched movies and talked for about 4 hours I know the exciting back stage life of a musician hahha~ not really. Nothing crazy going on backstage just a dingy cold room with old horrible 80's movies playing on a small TV. Although we did have fun making fun of the movie stars and acting. The boys were all incredibly nice to Eileen and I treating us as if we were sisters to them. They again had nice words to say about David Gray and the boys and asked how they all were. So the show started and the band was in top notch sounding incredible....except for Matthew who was beyond drunk by the time the show started. Now I love that man to pieces and think he has an amazing voice and can sing his heart out with so much emotion. But that night the alcohol took over and he could hardly stand up right on stage. His voice still sounded good, but by the end he started to slur, forget words, fall all over the stage, bump into his bass and guitar player, drop his mic a few times, drop his guitar to where it wouldn't work anymore so he had to finish the show with no guitar. He at one point said hold on, walked off stage in the middle of a song to pee, which was pretty funny but sad at the same time. We did have a blast watching him as he was in such a good drunkin mood but the show could of been so much better if he was sober. I know how much tallent he has so I know this was an off night for him. But for those who were seeing him for the first time I felt bad. The rest of the band was just awesome all night, they really saved Matthew a few times. And we had a great surprise as Josh Tillman showed up after a show he just did that night down the street and came on stage to sing with Matthew. It was great!!
Watching and listening to Jesse the guitar playing reminds me of watching a younger Neill as he plays so well, absolutely effortless and into every moment on stage. The drummer (Christopher)has a strong sound and really pushes it all night, not missing a beat. Jeffrey the bass player is quite laid back on stage but is so good, he has his own unique sound which I like. And Scottie the keyboard player well you know when you see him live that he LOVES what he does so much. The man has so much character to him and is brilliant. It's like watching a mad scientist slash phantom of the opera show watching him I couldn't stop laughing and how can he see under all that hair slamming about lol but he does and is great.Matthew has such a unique different voice that makes you feel every emotion he is singing and he is one of the kindess most humble man I have ever met.
After the show we all went back stage again, chatted for about an other hour or so, can't remember all I know is we left around 2:30 in the morning and were so tired! We took a lot of pics, and video. So all in all it was a great night. We got to learn a whole lot more about each one of the boys and found that there just a bunch of sweet, tallented, very intelligent men who love the music they play for us on stage. Can't wait to see them again and I will say it again if you have the chance PLEASE go see them live!
Here are a few pics...videos are still loading.
