Hi I'm just one of David's many longtime fans. I understand he is playing the Galway Arts Festival on the 21st july. Unfortunately, i like many others would love to see him but I'm working in Dublin and won't be able to make it down during the week. I know if it was the weekend, I would've definitely come down. I think it's pretty sad that he isn't playing a gig in dublin over the Summer. Dubliners have supported him from the start and it's been a been a while since he was last here. I've seen David many times over the years but haven't seen him in about 7 years, when he headlined Witness! I think the first time I saw him I was 15 and it was the winter before Whiteladder came out. It was in the Olympia in Dublin and I remember him thanking the audience as it meant he didn't have to worry about buying christmas presents for his kids! I always thought sucess couldn't have happened to a nicer person. Kind regards

Hi ElleWoods, and welcome to the site. This sounds as if it was about time you get to see him again. 7 years are a long time indeed. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. And David and his band are better than ever so you would certainly enjoy seeing them. Kind regards - Rena

So Mr Gray is playing Whelans in Dublin on 24th September for 20 mintes and then going to turn up as a special guest at one of a possible 32 pubs....I missed getting tickets for Whelans but have managed to get tickets for O'Donoghues Pub....am praying he will play there. http://www.ticketmaster.ie/promo/g2jexy?spotlight_ren_od=1&tm_link=tm_homeA_2_f1 For those that know the pubs in Dublin which pub do you think he will play at??? Some on the list are great pubs and some are terrible (well a different more trendier crowd maybe!)......I went for the one I thought best suited...but who am I to know Any suggestions???

Yer I did think of those two as well....also thought of the Village which is next door to Whelans or Flannerys which is across the road but didn't think he would play those. Actually Dorans is class for bands.......as is Bruxells..many a school night spent there only to regret it at work the next day :-0

Here you will find some info about what to expect in Dublin on that day. The makers of GUINNESS announce the second wave of world-renowned
artists joining the Arthur’s Day 250th anniversary celebrations on 24th
September 2009. Joining previously announced artists including The
Black Eyed Peas, Estelle and Kasabian are music industry legend Sir Tom Jones and some of today’s hottest acts including Razorlight, Imelda May, Calvin Harris, Sugababes, The Kooks,
Jamie Cullum and David Gray. Over 60 outstanding music acts will pledge
to perform in Dublin and around the world in cities including New York,
Lagos, Yaoundé and Kuala Lumpur to raise a toast to Arthur Guinness,
the man who gave us the black stuff.
The Celebrations
The passion and energy of Arthur’s Day will kick off in Dublin at
17:59 with a global toast to Arthur Guinness to mark the 250 years
since he signed the 9,000 year lease on the St. James's Gate brewery.
In Dublin, thousands of people will come together to experience live
music events in over 30 venues across the famous city, including
intimate gigs in pubs and music venues and a concert at the St. James’s
Gate brewery itself, where more than 2,000 guests from around the world
will enjoy performances from some of the world’s most successful
artists. With hundreds of opportunities to win tickets (see below) to
the gig, as well as the opportunity to view the concert at your local
pub (the concert will be streamed live via Pub TV to thousands of pubs
throughout the UK), everyone will be able to join in the celebrations
and raise a pint to Arthur Guinness.
A Charitable Toast
At 17:59 people worldwide will be joined by Artists and celebrities
including Sir Bob Geldof, Guy Ritchie, Carson Daly, Jerry Hall and
Sophie Dahl as they raise a GUINNESS to Arthur and toast the Arthur
Guinness Fund. Arthur Guinness and his family were responsible for some
of the most well known acts of philanthropy in Ireland, and to honour
and continue this legacy we are establishing the Arthur Guinness Fund.
The aim of the Fund is to enable and empower individuals with skills
and opportunities to deliver a measured benefit to their communities.
The Guinness & Co. will donate €6 million to the Arthur Guinness
Fund which will be active from September 2009.
For more information on the GUINNESS 250 celebrations please visit http://www.guinness.com

I went to see DG on my first tour in 2005 at the Olympic theatre in Dublin. I think it was my 5th gig. We had an extra day and spent most of it in the Guinness factory hichic. I bought a Guinness tie while in there and it is out and ready to wear in Whelan's in a couple of days! Haven't any Guinness braces though.
Keep smiling - It's free! Djk :-)
