So....... is a 2013 February tour within the realm of possibilities for us? Any guesses out there? I'm not sure how far a single show this year is going to take me... sigh Helen

Just found the computer at the Basin Harbor Club... Well, no surprise that David Gray made the show worth a two day trip with 5 kids worth it!!!! The show was amazing and the setting was just beautiful. When "the gates" opened, I felt like I was at an easter egg hunt - everyone running across a wide open grassy field. I told the kids, "We're running to David Gray". I only hope David and the band were watching. I'm sure it was quite a funny sight from the stage at the bottom of this long rolling field. I told Julia to just keep on rolling right under the stage, on to the tour bus. You could tell they had that "last show" excitement and I like to think that somehow David knew we were there because at the beginning of the show he said he wanted to welcome the people of Vermont and "those of you who have made long journeys to get here". We all gave it the college effort to get a picture with David after the show and I really was hoping to get one with the kids most of all, but sadly it didn't work out. None the less, the kids had a super time singing and dancing along in person. Adam said he hopes next time David Gray will go to California because he really wants to visit there. Henry kept thinking we had traveled to England. I had to remind him that David Gray traveled from England. The place we are staying in Vermont is called the Basin Harbor Club. It is a 125 year old resort and it is one of the most beautiful places we have been. Thank you, David, for playing here. Lots of folks here will now be giving David a listen to - they can't believe we took this road trip just for a concert. What an awesome 10th show for me.

Oh Jackie, I always liked that Adam kid. :) All 7 of you can come stay with me when DG returns to the Golden State! Not exactly clear as to why I have post-tour depression, seeing as how I missed it all. Ha! The videos and reviews have been great fun. I am so grateful to the people on here who share their experiences (especially via video) and take us all on the ride. Thanks!

Thanks Helen for these wonderful videos, especially Gathering Dust and The Light, loving David's wobbly head on the light. Thanks to everyone for all the great reviews, videos and pics, sounds like a very special gig.

You're very welcome, Elysium! Next time, I simply must remember to hold the camera at horizontal angle for the Youtube download, argh.... Helen

A few more offerings from this one. Was good to see JackieJo and husband once again (and to meet the rest of the family--super cute/great kids!), our intrepid and ever-amazing Ms. Wolfie, the ever-lovely/where-did-she-come-from Doll, and to meet Rabiahc and HRJ. Thanks for making the trek to VT so special and fun. As all have said, this was an outstanding show--music, setting, temps, etc. par excellence. That said, I've definitely decided general admission isn't for me...kind of brings out the worst in people--I'm too old and cranky I guess. Crowd started out fairly mellow for Sail Away but by Fugitive blankets and picnics were being trampled and initially pristine views were no more as evidenced by the first two videos. Eventually we all settled in, made peace and enjoyed what brought us there. My favorite here is Lately: Sail Away: http://youtu.be/-GRqQ2d7XY4 Fugitive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RM8UtkKWoQ&feature=g-upl Lately: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6OEsaJOwkU&feature=g-upl TYL: http://youtu.be/b4J750-U9Xk In retrospect, I've decided DG is an oustanding travel agent. VT was lovely and if not for him I have no idea what ever would have brought me there. Three full days of bliss to make the unexpected overnight at Laguardia and complete loss of voice by Monday worth it. Can't wait to see where he takes us next. 'Till then happy travels and listening all...

Thanks Spinnyforthoughts!!! I LOVED the Fugitive video. Geez, It's amazing what holding the camera at the right angle can do for a video!!! I can understand and share some of your reservations about the general admission format in the sense that there is no set, personal space or seat to rightfully protect as your own (unless you're that scary blond kid in front row whose explosive behavior and foul mouth kept everyone at bay (holly molly!!). In that sense, every good spot is a free for all, which sometimes blurs the line between acceptable and downright rude behavior. But I have to say as much as I love the security of having my own seat number, there is a very unique quality about cohabitation in the general admission format and that includes the initial "Easter egg run" which someone very accurately compared it to earlier in this string. Man oh man, it has been decades since I ran that hard and for that long when the gates did open and I know I wasn't the only one feeling like a ready-for-pasture horse, huffing and puffing my way down to the front lawn. Whoa!!! Also, as soon as everyone got up to dance, I think that most people's guard went down and were able to only focus on the concert. Yes there were a few super giddy girls who cut in front of me to get the better view but I recognized their enthusiasm as my own and so we squeezed a little bit here and there and made space for everyone. No need for nastiness here. That feeling of collectiveness and rootgrass community, you would not get from a seated format so I guess they both are very unique in their own way. Helen

Spinny, thank you for taking and posting your videos. I have to say that I agree with you that GA shows bring out the worst in people! I definitely saw a lot of downright rude behavioir at the three GA shows I attended this tour. I am so torn about GA shows because I love that it usually mean getting to stand (and dance?!?) but I hate that it means I have to worry about being jostled or trampled and fighting with people for the space I (usually) have stood in line a few hours for. And in that vein, I have to disagree with Helen that there is no set, personal space to rightfully protect as my own at a GA show. If the show is GA I will usually get there really early, knowing that I want to be in a certain, up-close spot. If other people aren't there at the same time I am, waiting it out, I have to assume that they don't have the same desire I do for that up-close spot. When the doors/gates open you better believe I am going to claim said spot and yes, I am going to get annoyed by those who try to elbow me out of the way or stand in front of me. I am always confused by such behavior... I mean, if you want to be in the front, get there super early!... don't show up five minutes before DG's set, try to push me out of the way, slurring "gosh, I just looooove him," and expect me to be okay with it.

Oh wow! I am loving those videos!! I'm so glad you got to capture those gems. Thank you so much for sharing. And yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only nut with post-tour blues when I didn't even get to any of the shows! I love getting all these reviews, pics, and videos. I hope we don't have to wait too long until the next one!
