absolutely on the hippies lol!!! he is eeringly cult-ish as well...............but I love their stuff and the cuts I have heard from the new album surely indicate they are here to stay

which is good as life unfortunately got in the way of this gig........yesterday was a very tough day as those on fb know as we lost our little lizzie girl - the younger sister to aussie of our two australian shepards - and a huge part of our family - we are still just floored by it - amazing how fragile life is - we went from the high of having tim and ford in our own home to the low of the loss of a loved one in five days time

the good news is we gave the seats away to a young admin in our office who just got married - she and her husband are about to experience a gig DCA style lol!!

and today is a new day - we are moving forward - we have the lumineers ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmZJUfcxrvc ) and bon iver on two consecutive nights at the end of the month - to that I am very much looking forward

in memorium........lizzie is on the left

Very sorry about your loss DCA.  RIP Lizzie.

Going to see a few people this summer and fall.

    • Herbert Groenemeyer at the Waldbuehne amphitheatre next week. In my opinion the only German who gets anywhere near David as a lyricist. Totally different aproach though.
    • Kasabian at a venue that is quite small compared to where they use to play in the UK. Just about 3000 people at the Columbia Hall. Quite a physical approach to music which does work.
    • In two weeks a female songwriter I haven't heard from yet. Ann Vriend whose tour was organised by a friend.
    • Bob Dylan at the ancient citadel just around the corner from where I live. His new band is said to be real good.
    • Then I have got excellent seats to a few Leonard Cohen concerts in late summer/early fall. This is going to be special. I still wish his musicians were half as good as David's though... That goes for the exception of the saxophonist who is excellent.
    • Sigur Ros are coming to my hometown in September but unfortunately they will be playing at a festival. Not too sure about that.
    • and then I keep hoping for a tour by the best musician of them all... Mr David Gray himself.
    • and last but not least my lovely daughter is going to drag me to Snow Patrol (at that citadel too) and Coldplay at some huge stadium. Both where big surprises live last year so we will see.

after zoo gig Big Smile, performing at Somerset ampitheater in Aug- My Morning Jacket (new to my ears),  Trampled by Turtles (a favorite), and Band of Horses (a bands with beards favorite and mine also).

Would like to see Rush in September but will take some convincing my other half to go.  Last time I saw them was 1988 and they put on a great show.  I even wrote a concert review for my college music class on it.  The things we do when we're young. :)

    Take care,

WOW!!!! Lumineers were AWESOME! If you have the chance to go see these guys I would highly recommend - just a really fun night of dancin and singing and carrying on - it was the largest crowd they have ever played for and they loved it! first ever encore for them and then they moved over to the bar agot up and performed............it was absolute greatness

gregory alan isacov was also really good but a bit too mellow for such a large crowd (500-ish)

started the day with lumineers in a record store on lower greenville

then finally my real b-day dinner and the show

today we conquer tulsa and hook up with vicki at bon iver

    nice

well bon iver was bon iver................wow!!!

what a great show - what is so impressive is the magnitude of the experience - from the awesome band to the lighting and production - and then layer in justin's voice and brilliance - amazing

third time was the charm for us - have been trying to see them for so long but life kept getting in the way - this was a lovely little excursion up to tulsa.............great to see Vicki and meet her kids - very charming indeed! and really really glad we brought alex as well - he and brice were definitely the only kids there - and both loved it - alex's smile this morning was priceless!

stole this pic from vicki as mine are berry crap...........we both had great seats - we were a few rows back

next up................the head and the heart in D on Thursday and in Austin on the weekend!!

    WOOT!

I echo everything DCA said about Bon Iver.  I was completely blown away: the musicians, the music, the lights, all of it.  Highlights for me were Holocene, Blood Bank, Beth, Rest, and of course, For Emma.   Creature Fear was an absolute animal of a song and I will not soon forget the experience of seeing that live!!

Early on Justin mentioned that he was aware of the "basketball situation."  Oklahoma City's NBA (basketball) team was playing in a playoff game, and he said he knew what a sacrifice it was for some to miss the game.  When they came out for the encore he was wearing in OKC ball cap, and announced that they had won the game and the crowd nearly tore the roof off with their cheers.  Very cool moment!  Now on to DG and the boys!

Still wondering if I should go see Bon Iver at a freakin' festival setting. There's other expenses to be added too..

Haven't decided yet, probably wouldn't regret it but..
