Went to see Royal Wood at a very small venue, in fact a restaurant/pub in a nearby town.  The opener was a band called Stringbone and they did a cover of Hold On To Nothing.  It was an upbeat version with some country music flavour but I recognized it right away.  Interesting to hear it played that way and really enjoyed it.  Royal was super, got to hear many more of his songs.

I listen to Sirius Satellite radio in Canada and they play him quite a few times every day on the coffee house Channel 30 and alot of his newer stuff on The Spectrum channel 18...Good to see them promote him!

Don't hear him on local Ottawa stations too much as we don't have too many good ones Mad

Well, for the longest time I thought I had never heard David anywhere at where I live, but I suddenly recalled one time. There's this talk show here where people also bring a record from their collections and at the end a song from one of the guests is randomly played. So at one time there was this comedian on the show and he had brought White Ladder. He chose to play Nightblindness and commented that the line "What are we going to do when the money runs out?" is one of the greatest lines ever written.. Anyways, it was all kind of random since David is next to unknown here so it was nice to see that.

Made a bad decision to buy a couple groceries on my way home from doctor's appointment. I was told not to walk after badly bruising my kneecap. BTW, thanks for your kind words on the Hamilton thread Eileen. I will be okay, IF I follow doctor's orders. But we really needed groceries. Anyway, the pain was much better once I heard Fugitive playing throughout the grocery store. David's music is good therapy.

I was buying some shoes a few weeks ago in my "I <3 David Gray" t-shirt and Stella came on. Lady looked at me and said "Who's David Gray?" I responded with pointing up and saying him. At that time the entire store got quiet and I danced a little jig at checkout.

Left and went shopping for some clothes, Fugitive was playing. Was getting down in the aisle.

Stopped at the gas station and picked up some milk and I heard Stella again on the radio.

    It was a good day.

I was in McDeadly's yesterday morning and heard "Full Steam". Wearing my ancient Gray sweatshirt from 2003, I mentioned to the young lady that it was David wafting through the air. She seemed somewhat unimpressed, but I was.

Stayed in a small hotel/bistro in Deddington in Oxfordshire for the Cornbury Music festival in which DG was headlining the Saturday, went down for breakfast the following morning and they were playing White Ladder in it's entirety, breakfast was a delight i can tell you Big Smile

Today started off as perfect as day can possibly begin. I was standing in the bathroom listening to some Swiss radio, when suddenly it began
"Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on"

Brilliant!!! Last time I heard them play any DG was back when YtWTM had just come out.

I mean, how good can you possibly start your day? I couldn't help but sing along at 6.30am. Sorry, neighbours! ;-)
    Because...
    we wanted to!

Tonite I had a triple treat...was at a late dinner...sipping sweet tea and relaxing on a outdoor patio by a fountain when one of my most fave songs of all time came on... "Sky Blue & Black" by Jackson Browne...which was followed by Darlin David and "Stella"--which was surprising as that song got little airplay around here and then as if kismet was at work...DG was followed by Ray La M.-"Trouble"

    I was a happie chickie...lol

I was watching college football on NBC (Michigan vs Notre Dame) and I could swear that I heard about 5-10 seconds of an instrumental part of Fugitive as bumper music as they went to commercial.

I drove up to Kinston last week to take my Mom shopping.  She wanted to go in Roses, a small discount dept. store.  We walked in and my 7 yr old stopped immediately, turned to me, and said, "Momma it's David Gray!".  At first I looked around stunned like an idiot.  "Where!?!"  I said.  She laughed at me and said he was on the radio.  Red faced I stopped and listened a little harder as my hearing isn't nearly as good as hers and sure enough it was 'Real Love'.  I walked all over the store singing my heart out.  Luckily she's not a teenager yet and I didn't embarrass her too badly.  lol..  Embarrassed
