Wow! I am beyond jealous of all the people who saw David in Dublin! There just can't be any words to describe just how incredible that show must of been!
Atlantic City by Springsteen is one of my absolute favs of his, especially the version from the MTV unplugged live CD that David Gray seems to be covering here, i would have just died on the spot if i was heard they started playing that! Thanks very much for the videos wezzz, you can see how amazing the gig from those videos, awesome.
I think the fact that David and the band covering The Who and Springsteen goes a long way to prove that seeing David Gray live is a essectial and unbelieveable experience!
Look forward to hearing more from the gig, sounds just incredible! i am very jealous right here!

Thank you for sharing DJK! Can´t believe it was your 60th concert. Congratulations! Read all your reviews from the tour and enjoy it. A little solace for me because i wasn´t able to come to Dublin or to more gigs.

I only wish I could have been there with you wonderful friends to share that very special night. And my congratulations on celebrating your 60th gig in such a great location, and tribute from DG himself. :-) Well done, as always dear friend. XX Eileen

Good morning everyone Sorry it took me so long but due to winterly weather conditions and hours and hours of delays at the airport I got home no sooner than 2.30 this morning and somehow my notebook did not like the wifi provided at the Clarion in Dublin. Anyway. What a night. We all expected this gig to be special and it turned out to be spectacular. Most has been said already so let me just add a few thoughts. And the complete setlist as played: - Fugitive - hearing the crowd singing along every single word brought a huge smile onto David's and the band's faces. It went on like that throughout the night. Those Irish people knew their DG. All the new songs played included. Great.
- The One I Love
- Jackdaw
- First Chance - this one is so great with it's hypnotizing beat.
- Be Mine
- Kathleen - as beautiful as ever
- Everytime
- Slow Motion
- Say Hello Wavbe Goodbye - a special version with lyrics from Van Morrison's Astral Week added in the improvised part. Lovely.
- Ain't No Love - David said something along the lines of 'please take this as my Christmas song for you'. Yes! Thanks for chosing that one and no cheesy carol. That's my David...
- World To Me
- Draw The Line - on the printed setlist but not played
- The Other Side
- Babylon
- (Please Forgive Me on the printed setlist) but exchanged with Sail Away - an especially lovely version that came with a lot of crowd participation
- first encore break
- This Year's Love
- Nemesis - this one touched me especially, I could hardly believe my ears when I heard lyrics from William Butler Yeats' poem The Lake Isle Of Innisfree. Beautiful.
- (Sail Away on the printed setlist) but as said before this had been swopped with Please Forgive Me
- second encore break
- Atlantic City (Bruce Springsteen) wow - this one blew me and the hall away
- Won't Get Fooled Again (The Who) - David's Roger Daltrey impersonation was just amazing. It came complete with microphone action and everything. And those guys are rockers when they want to be. wow!!!
This venue holds 14 000 people after rebuilding and it rocked. What an amazing evening. A worthy 10th anniversary to the legendary The Point performance in December 1999. Sorry for everyone who had to miss out on that one. Thank you David for two amazing weeks and the most beautiful music. Robbie!, Neill, James and Keith - you are excellent musicians - it's been a joy seeing you on stage. David's hard working crew - it would not happen without you guys so thanks a lot! Merry Christmas and a safe trip to the US for your New Year's Eve gig. It was great meeting you Sarah, Marcel, Nevermind, Elysium, Littlenoise, Wildhope in Dublin. And Djk, of course. Congrats on your 60th gig! A warm welcome to our new members. Special thanks go out to those who have made this trip so special. You know who you are! See you all in Oslo...

Great review DJK! Congrats on # 60, wish I could have been there too. It sounds like it definitely was an incredible night in more ways than one and having all the Irish singing along would have such a great time. Take care Dave, keep smiling.

Glad you made it home safely Rena. I can tell from the reviews and comments that this was a particularly special night, would have been so neat to hear eveyone singing the new songs. I am trying to envisage DG doing Daltrey, I've seen him jump around a few times before and can imagine it was quite the show. It seems that there is always some new surprise around the corner with these guys! Saw the curtain drop on youtube and wondering if we'll get to see it over here.

Hi All, Sorry about my late late review but had some trouble getting from Dublin to Amsterdam yesterday because of the bad weather mainly in Holland. After six hours delay and a wintery drive we finally managed to get back... But it was worth it ! What a great gig this was, I have seen a few and even lost count but this one surely stands out as one of the best.... The start was superb with the band behind a white curtain which dropped at the first lines of Fugitive and I think most of us were surprised that most people were singing along with the lyrics...
What followed was a chain of great fun, quite a bit has already been mentioned but just a few things from me.... - Jackdaw, for me one of the best tracks of the album...
- Everytime, fantastic piece of work by Neill on this...
- The Other Side, still evolving... where does it stop... superb !
- Nemesis, another favorite... introduced with David congratulating our own DJK with his 60th gig..
- Please Forgive Me, my hands are still hurting....
- Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who, this was just so much fun... like David playing Friday I'm in Love but then even more outspoken and so rocking the place, what a Christmas treat ...Have not seen any video's of this but will surely do later this week (watch DJK's YouTube..)

The band was very relaxed and having a lot of fun, I found them very interacting and during Won't Get Fooled Again David jumped on the speaker right in front of us and we had to watch the mic swinging in front of our faces... what a blast !
I have uploaded a few pictures on my blog, click on the link if you want to see all...
Thanks to Neill, Robbie, James, Keith and of course David and everyone involved in this superb performance ! Another Thank You to DJK, Rena, Nevermind, Elysium, Wildhope and Littlenoise. Great seeing and meeting all of you and by the looks of it you all made it home safe and sound. Take care ! Marcel & Sarah

Review: David Gray David Gray performed at the O2. Photo: Getty Images A DECADE ago, David Gray would have had little trouble shifting all 14,000 tickets for this venue -- had it existed then. Tonight it's far from full, but one Liam Devaney from Clonmel, Co Tipperary, is honoured as the one millionth punter to walk through the O2's doors since its opening. Free tickets for future concerts and a private backstage meeting with Gray are his prizes. Mr Devaney is lucky to get an intimate audience with the Manchester-born, Wales-raised singer: for a good chunk of the crowd, Gray and his sartorially elegant six-piece band are tiny figures dwarfed by the giant stage. If ever a gig needed big screens, it's this one. Unfortunately, those visuals are not utilised tonight and as a result the actual music has to work harder to make a connection. The first half of the show makes for compelling listening to fans of his more recent work, with two songs from his latest album 'Draw the Line' especially well realised. Opener 'Fugitive' finds Gray musing on the state of the world post-Iraq war, while the tender 'Kathleen' is as lovely as anything he has written. But for great swathes of the show, Gray struggles to make his songs transcend the enormous venue -- this, after all, was a man who honed his skills in the tiny confines of Whelan's on the other side of the Liffey. The audience have to wait a full 40 minutes before he plays anything from 'White Ladder' -- the 1998 album that's by a long distance the biggest seller in Irish chart history. He can hardly be surprised that 'Say Hello Wave Goodbye' is sung back word perfect from a crowd that have only offered polite engagement up to that point. They're putty in his hands whenever he lifts the lid on the delights of 'White Ladder' -- 'Babylon', 'This Year's Love' and 'Sail Away' provide a giant karaoke session, while 'Please Forgive Me' allow his band to showboat. Yet it's a new song that provides the night's highlight. A lengthy take on 'Nemesis' is so superbly delivered that it may encourage many to investigate the new album. With a mirror ball glinting behind him, Gray manages to make the O2 seem intimate. - JOHN MEAGHER Irish Independent http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/music/review-david-gray-1983287.html Take care ! Marcel.
