chalmers: they make no bones about their disdain of all things sirgray related as they have promoted and advertised that they have gone off of david just as if he has shown up recently as sour milk. it doesn't matter one whit how many people post a day as long as there is a sense of community relating to david gray predominantly. the typical post daily in the general section is inconsequential to that end.
the typical posts daily in the general section in 1999 (and for a long time after) were from people who contributed, in their own small way, to the transition of david gray the folk singer to david gray the corporate entity. long before he was flush enough to employ a platoon of managers to employ a rash of junior executives to recruit a creche of moderators, these enthusiasts bought and traded albums, force fed them to friends and enemies, attended gigs, and spread the word by all manner and means. consequently, david gray was given a leg up his white ladder. he is on record as saying his success was helped in no small part by the support of his then fans. this community has its roots in that movement, which coincided with the launch of this website. it helped kick the place in to shape and gave it purpose. the typical post daily in this site today is proped up by thousands of threads that can be traced back to those years. that is not meant as a lofty expression of superiority, or a request for privileges for the old members, it is a statement of fact. despite the natural shift in shape of conversation, many of the old members remain fans and all hold him with some degree of affection, if only for sparking the creation of this community alone. it remains inclusive and welcoming. you need only run your eye along the sign-up dates for proof of that. this battle is beyond a joke and a waste of everyone's time but inaccurate, scathingly derogatory and uninformed views shouldn't go unchallenged. while kendall's ineptitude persists, there's enough of us around to sashay in to the breach and tilt it back on a fairer footing. kendall himself acknowledged the history of this place when he arrived. he indicated a personal interest in remaining faithful to its ethos. various members helped pave the way for him to take on his task. he has proven to be hypocritical as well as incompetent. so that's us back to the original point of this thread then.

If this website has changed to be ONLY about DG, including the General section, regardless of how it was for YEARS before August '07, then the mods need to tell us that. Come out and tell us that now only gushing-and-panty-wetting-on-all-things-DG is allowed and we will leave with nary a glance back. Because that means that DG doesn't care about the people who made him what he is. And those people don't have a recent join date. This is only directed to the mods, ie Kendall, and not any mod-wannabes. Especially those who are the same person

Recently marg posted on a thread about Nick Drake this answer to LadyJane:
" LadyJayne: circle complete." marg: in a manner of speaking, yes. both go six feet under after three albums. albeit musically in the case of david gray.
http://www.davidgray.com/forums/permalink/702087/702163/ShowThread.aspx#702163 Just for the record. David Gray's first 3 albums are: - 1993: A Century Ends
- 1994: Flesh
- 1996: Sell, Sell, Sell
According to her post, after three albums of David Gray marg represents the opinion that David Gray is gone "six feet under","albeit musically". These are about almost 10 years on a board of an artist she apparently dislikes. That's bad luck and it explains much of the things happening here on this board.
chalmers was absolutly right: (...)knowing full well that the lot of you are not relevant to what this site is set up to do. and that is to promote david gray music, merch and image.(...) http://www.davidgray.com/forums/permalink/702458/702275/ShowThread.aspx#702275
David Gray's "musically dead" albums? - 1999: White Ladder
- 2000: Lost Songs 95-98
- 2000: David Gray Live at the Point in Dublin (DVD)
- 2001: The EPs 1992-1994
- 2002: A New Day at Midnight
- 2005: Life in Slow Motion
- 2006: Life in Slow Motion (Live DVD)
- 2007: A thousands miles behind (live covers)
- 2007: Greatest Hits

nevermind, you're very welcome to participate in the discussion when you can put together a credible argument. meanwhile, there's no problem with you sticking around as the commercial break.

ok have sat by watching all the fun of those with 5000 posts (eee gads one must think) but as a newbie this is all really quite humorous.........maybe you should infiltrate damienrice.com where there are no mods - in the meantime - in my own humble opinion - frickin relax and if it changed it changed people - the irony is you are all upset but you keep clamoring for more because you can't leave it......happy new year (or is it merry?!)

chalmers: oh gentle jesus wept repeatedly from my lofty view of these proceedings it really does come down to one thing only and that is power held and maintained within an internet bulletin board for cryin' out loud. who has it who wants it and who can't get at it. bullhorn aloft and you guessed right it is those deemed by sirdavid's management to run his site that promotes his artsitry. if you feel neglected or abused in word and are a fan of david's music i am sure the powers that be will oblige you. not the case here tho is it . no sirdavidre! asking for intervention to these type of trivialities is just a tenuous power grab by those who are living in the past and long for those days of yore. (sniffle-whinging track inserted here for benefit of those hearing impaired). this noelcampbell character is seemingly a happy offbeat character that had the audacity to question the antics of some fishmongers wife in the general arena. heated debate and accusations flew only due to the fact that noelcampbell had dared to enter the inner sanctum without the requisite number of posts accumulated and without being properly initiated. noel is then jumped and sacked and winds all up by purporting to be a wheelchair bound community officer! lunatics in general asylum want immediate moderation and exposing of noelcampbell's background as they would wish to institute charges against his person! (insert laff track on your own at any time peoples) at same approximate time a birthday poll is promulgated in the suggestion area of the bulletin board that invites all to vote. looney bin revolts and demands to know why this was not conveyed appropriately and specifically to those who have opted out of viewing the entire board contents. they make no bones about their disdain of all things sirgray related as they have promoted and advertised that they have gone off of david just as if he has shown up recently as sour milk. simply not to their taste it does seem. wtf? why then stick around is the paramount question that needs answering. you have found a place to capture your banter in a jar and have haltingly indicated it is much more agreeable to your needs and wants. a place to speak and discuss carbunkles and swollen ankles and baking routines while lancing that latest boil or lesion so troubling. yet you continually monitor this board in hopes that "all will be set right" according to your collective "lofty an d longtime membership status", (audible groans emanate from audience) knowing full well that the lot of you are not relevant to what this site is set up to do. and that is to promote david gray music, merch and image. it doesn't matter one whit how many people post a day as long as there is a sense of community relating to david gray predominantly. the typical post daily in the general section is inconsequential to that end. if you leave of your own accord as many have done and do everyday so be it. no reason to say goodbye and lament the good ole days. you'll always have the memories. those cannot be taken away and we salute you for your fandom at some point or other that obviously led you to this place. one more trumpet to lunatic fringe folk in general, this is the official david gray bulletin board. an artist's board is set up to promote the artist and enthrall old and new fans alike. a general section is often set up for those that wish to commune on topics not related to the artist whom they are there to catch up on and as an afterthought by those responsible for running the site. all may come and go freely as many do every day here i would guess. can't imagine thirty thousand members here all at once but it just may happen. jesus we do live in hope! no clue as to who what why specifically with regard to this recent banning nonsense as tho we all sleep together nightly in the grayland commune we don't kiss and tell. the names bandied about undoubtedly must have pushed the button to overload as they have shown themselves to be overblown in all manner previously, and must have been abusive to the folk that run this place here. they have the power and are in charge of the site so they may do as they please. i was aware of this upon registering and were welcomed heartily and happily by them in several ways. the moderation by kendall, rena and amber is topnotch fine and their movement of threads and monitoring of site is exemplary to most of us who log in to catch up on the latest sirdavid news. you lot purport to be happy in your new abode so be off and live and prosper in your community of choice. all of your fringe element are there and those out of loop can view the announcement of where to hea d easily enough by continually logging in at this site to their collective hearts content. please simply get over your own dear selves and get real lives and relationships going over there. it will be fun for you all and certainly beneficial with less jumping around from site to site!! and of course maybe if you make amends and say your prayers regularly sirdavid will visit you there and shine again for you all. yeah that's right, he'll appear to you like a rainbow! i know, i've seen him holding the pot 'o gold!! cheers :)
