    nevermind:
Are you serious Ak11? In my opinion Bruce plays nothing but his boring "Bierfest" music for an audience which majority loves to match drinks! That's really f***ed up ! ;-)

When I saw DG it was just a great gig. When I saw Bruce it was like a spiritual event, celebration of fantastic music and a great party combined to one! DAMN! Plus you should be ashamed, I heard Germnay got three awesome shows and we only get one ;(

At first i thought you were talking about Bruce Wayne... But sorry folks ak is right, Springsteen is above all the rest. He is meh-gnificent. And nevermind, what is wrong with a Bierfest?

Check out his SXSW speech - if you got an hour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWbv0SUVQjM

I gave away a penalty, fouled Maradona, hacked down Gordon Ramsay - DG

Nice to see that you all are of one opinion for once ;-) and let me point out that sometimes I do like the "Bierfest" too but I can't stand the scene...

I've learned a personal lesson about arguing with someone here.Wink My opinions matter to me, and while I may express them, I know now to respect someone else's and keep out of it. No-one's opinion is wrong here, and if they don't match mine I know to keep my big bazoo shut!

Remember - your soul is the one thing you can't compromise

Every time I see a newer photo of Springsteen I tend to think that in these times authenticity in modern pop/rock music is just another construct people desperatly want to believe in...

    what does that mean?

that humans follow something religiously because they can't do the opposite? does commercial music equally become unoriginal? are you negative that a lot of people can enjoy the same thing? are you seeking for originality because you think it makes one special?

maybe it is a picture of an over sixty years old guy making a lot of people smile. again, if you find the time watch the keynote video. i believe, looking at your blog, that springsteen is not so far away from your ideals.

Love the guy. When he hits the stage you get to see 50k people have a huge smile on their faces for over three hours. That is a brilliant gift.

Speaking of hitting the stage... in less than 24 hours I'll be in the pit for the for the european leg closer yeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Btw: Takes balls to do that knee slide even if he sprays some stuff on his pants before it!

What I dislike is the “cult of authenticity”. This means that people tend to overlook the enactment nature of "authenticity" in pop music. For me Springsteen's music and his image cultivation as the most authentic musician and Hardest Working Man In Rock is an affected behavior (his music, his produced image and nowadays even his pretty face) which camouflages itself as the "authentic truth". Why always looking for this imagined authentic truth when there are so many in pop/rock music?  The real strength of pop music is its produced and artificial nature, from Madonna, Techno, Electronica, Punk, Rock, Gray, Captain Beefheart, Folk… to Leonard Cohen..whatever.

i hear you nevermind (although i totally disagree on madonna and cohen in the same sentence) and i think that authenticity is just one of the reasons why a piece of art can be liked. and the reason maybe for me at least is that i love the pureness of a genius and not some sophisticated thing (which can also be nice).

glen hansard was twittering this recently:

Bruce Springsteen  last night in Dublin..The best show I've EVER seen! There's nobody on the planet who sings or gives as much!

hansard, who is making music for ever now, has a point imho.
