You also cant have to many extended songs - songs that can go well beyond a 6+ min mark.

oh but I digress.... in "MY DREAM" set list---If he wants to to do 2-3 hours of extended versions, Im not gonna say no.. lmao  grin

    wink

(look forward to your list SQ)

*laughing at Teem resisting the urge to edit* ... LOL.. thats too funny... Smile

sorry about Sail Away AK... maybe we've had more exposure over here to some of these songs and appearances...but I just think hes ready to mix it up a bit...it has got to get really tiring singing those same songs nite after nite and theyve been touring pretty hard off and on now for a good while...

and hes got such an impressive catalog of songs...its time for some to be brought back out in lieu of that same group of "top ten" type hits..along with debuting the new songs. (imho)

Sail Away is pretty obvious tho, because you put it as third or fourth song and you've instantly won the crowd over if you haven't already.

while I completely agree with telephone on the issue I have to also agree with AK in that I cannot imagine he takes out all of the hits...............recall that as amazing as those bare bones gigs were all of the favs were still played

As usual, YDTM has a well-thought out winner! I love it.

And I completely agree - the top ten hits should be left off this 'mini-tour'. And it sounds like it's David's intent to do so. He's been pounding those songs every second nite for much of 2010 - let them rest a bit, and play some of the other lesser-played gems in the catalogue. Which David has more than a few of. Looking forward v. much to this tour and how it unfolds (as well as in person of course). Then I hope David takes a long break to spend time i@ The Church writing some more inspired gems.

Here's a (facetious) twist - how about the three songs with 'Hold' in the title back-to-back-to-back?!? (I like all three of them!)

Hey Miralake. I just had to laugh about your comments on "The Rice". I've read comments where people say they don't care for the song but I like it too. I laughed because I especially love the way he sings "and you are all unhinged".

I can also identify with your needing the "live in the moment" attitude drilled into you. I'm like that too. Always need reminding. But I'm getting better at it with time.

     ....so here's an initial thought:

    Only the Wine

    Foundling

    Last Boat to America

    Silver Lining

    Forgetting

    The Old Chair

    Fixative

    Smile

    Nos Da Cariad

    Indeed I Will

    Sail Away

    Breathe

    Lullaby

When I was in your heart

    Gathering Dust

    This Year's Love

    Freedom

    Holding On

     - encore:

    Davey Jone's Locker

    Please Forgive Me

At the edges of this world, where the waters crash and curl.
Take me down, take me down, Davey Jones yeah take me down.

Great ideas folks, I am going to take a run at it now, a mix of old and new like the tour name implies:

     1.  The Light - this is my niece's favourite song and one of mine - I think it would allow for some good improv.

    2.   Clean Pair of Eyes

    3.   Wisdom

    4.    Debauchery

    5.    Magdalena - for MyCariad

    6.    Twilight

    7.    Dotted Line! - my favourite on Foundling

    8.    Davey Jones

    9.    The Old Chair - for our canine friends

    10.    In Gods Name

    11.   New Day at Midnight - for DJK

    12.   Old Father Time

    13.    Foundling

    14.    Made Up My Mind

Encore - Freedom (my #1) and Flame, with  TOIL to finish it all off.

    Okay, here is my ideas....

I see this tour as an opportunity to play some different tunes and I am quite sure we will hear a nice percentage of this list....

    Breathe
    Living Room
    Draw the Line
    Only the Wine
    It Accumulates
    Fixative
    Holding on
    Clean pair of eyes
    Say hello, wave goodbye
    Second Halo
    Lately
    As I'm Leaving
    Monday Morning
    Long Distance Call
    One with the Birds
    Gossamer Thread
    In Gods name
    A new day at midnight
    Blackbird
    Old father time
    Falling down the Mountainside

But I would be happy with a lots of lists that you guys have given us here.... I do think that we really want to hear Breathe as it is so suitable for this setup...

    Take care !

    Marcel.

Oooooooh! I like your list too Marcel! As you said I'd be happy with any of these lists. Would especially love Living Room and Falling Down the Mountainside. And agree about Breathe. I've been watching the youtube clip from the Abbey Road show. It's superb! Hope they play it on this tour.

I can't even narrow a list down to 20 songs. I keep wanting to add more, more, more!!!!

I see your point.... Stick out tongue

That is why I did not put a number in front of the songs... as it is 21 in total... hehehehe

I think most of these lists fit in the idea of.... "foundling meets lost songs + some surprises"

    Take care !

    Marcel.

I'm with fieryone.  I've tried to make my ideal list but it is impossible for me!  All of your lists sound so amazing!

I just have this feeling that when I walk out of the concert, I'm going to be thinking, "THAT was the perfect setlist!!"

Exactly! Which is why I do not even think of starting a list myself.

But I do enjoy reading all of yours. There are some interesting choices on there. As well as some interesting left outs.
