Ok others are far, far better at this than me but here goes......

Firstly it was great to see David back at the Point last night, secondly it was quite simply one of the best concerts I have been to in years. He was on great form. And we lucky people that were there and didn't race off after the encore (never mind those that started leaving after the main set...silly people!) were in for a real treat.

Ok he came on at 9 and finished at 10.57 (I'm a geek I know!) and from memory set list was something like the following (not necessarily in this order though and I think I am missing one or two!):

    Fugitive

    The One I Love

    Jackdaw

    Be Mine

    Kathleen

    First Chance

    Everytime

    World To Me

    LISM

Say Hello (Great to hear this again)

    Babylon

    Sail Away

    Ain't No Love

    The Other Side

    ---------------------------

    This Years Love

    Nemesis

    PFM

    ----------------------------

    Atlantic City (Springsteen)

    Won't Get Fooled (The Who)

    ----------------------------------------

Yes you read that correctly a second encore of Springsteen (practicing for the gig on New Years Eve maybe??) and the Who...with David in Roger Daltry mode.....fantastic stuff.

Anyway I will leave it to the others to put up a more thorough review but myself and my girlfriend were in great form afterwards as we loved it.

    .
it was the most spectacular gig I have seen!!!!!!!!!!

This was so good there is not a word invented to describe it - supertastic?  stupendasmagorical? phew

I have seen some fantastic gigs and hope to get to more - but this was a special in more ways than one - especially for me.

London with Annie was an exceptional start to thr UK tour to finish 2009 here - but WWWWWOWWWWWWSSSSSSEEERR

The point must hold something special for DG and being there on almost the 10th anniversary og the previous visit was going to be different.

As soon as Dave came out and the curtain dropped for Fugitive the crowd - 14000 of them - were singing the words from the start - this was the scene all through the night as his new ones and the old classics were sung by the crowd - they new all the words not just the chorus.

The faces on the DG and the band said it all - they knew it was going to be special - but we had no idea how special it was going to be!!

Song after song had DG and the band and the crowd rocking - he pulls out an old song I only recall him singing live once for his, who must be his biggest and must be most loyal supporter and someone we have to thank very much too - as he says this is for Olivia and sings Say Hello Wave Goodbye.

Robbie is rocking in his home country as again and again he shows his class on the bass guitar and bass

Neill shows off his guitar skills so many ways

Kieth on the4 drums is making the full band gigs so lively with the superb drum sequences

and James there at the back - you listen and you know what a big contribution he is making

and David gray of course - the man who writes such superb and poetic lyrics - then performs them with so much energy and passion - you see after some of the songs how he has been so into the song he has just finished he walks around for a few seconds to come down off the high he is on to prepare for the next song.

He puts so much into his performances and he expects - and gets it - from the superb group of musicians he has Accumulated !!

No lines are drown for Dave - he will go in any and every direction to give us music we all love to hear and see performed.

    and back to Dublin.

As I said the crowd was so good it was brilliant - I think it was for Sail Away thatr Dave started to play and then when to the front of the stage to hear the crowd singing and then back to the mic to join in.

This was the last song of the first set - got a set list and PFM was going to be the end of the first set!! so no idea why he changes things but no complaints from me.

The loudest and most enthusiactic crowd he could have call for more and they come back.

This years Love gets the usual reponse when he starts but this crowd will do what DG has wanted all the crowds to do but haqve not, as I seem to recall - as in Dublin they give Dave his whooooo woooaaaaa replies and he loves it - well done Dublin.

Then the next bit is the special part for me as Dave says

"I want to congratulate Dave on his 60th show tonight" wow that is for me - this night is so special for me - he congratulates me as he introduces the song he holds dear - Nemesis is so special.

and being there with a great buch of friends makes it even more so - thank you Dave anthe band and my friends and the others too who congratulated me - it was so nice of you all.

and then PFM finishes the encore and it is superb - Daves face says it all as he pops up and down from behind the piano to get us all going.

then leaves the stage to the crowd baying for more!!

no eqipment is being moved as we wonder if a 2nd encore is in prospect

and back on he comes - a little reminder to us as he sings Winsor Ciry??? as he will be there soon - never heard this before and he is superb

and then the spacular surprise as we hear Dave say treat this as a christmas present - what is he going to do as he gets the mic off the stand - but he has no guitar!!!

I will edit the name in after lol as I can not remember thia famous song and he is spinning the mic - jumping up and down - running around the stage - even jumped off the stage right in front of us onto a box - it was fantastic - dont think he has ever performed a song like this with only the mic and not playing an instrument - he and the crowd were loving this

    FANTASTC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what and ending to the best gig anyone could ask for and so special for me too.

Thanks to Dave and the band

the sound and lighting boys who have kept his performances so good to hear and see and changing and adding to the show.

    Thanks to my friends.

Got to post as train due and don't want to miss this one - it is on time!!!!!!!!

and posted without editing or reading others so may be mistakes and the last song title will be on the bb already

got some great videos of this tour and will be getting them up this week

bye all - i can hear the train coming

    Keep smiling - It's free!

    WOW

This was an amazing night. I will treasure the memories of this night forever.  This is the furthest I've travelled to see David and it was more special as it was nearly the anniversary of Live at The Point which I've worn out watching.

Was so special to share this with some great friends I've met from here. To have 2 encores was truly amazing and to see David's Roger Daltrey impression, without an instrument, was spectacular.

Thanks DJK too for your arrangements ;)

Great review of the gig! I have to agree it was a fantastic gig. I was completely blown away.Haven't quite made it to as many gigs as you but it was by far my favourite of his gigs!

Although all of it was amazing one of the (many) highlights was the re-birth of 'Everytime' from Sell Sell Sell. I was walking around Dublin today and on the train home and all I could think was 'I can't believe he played Everytime' much to the annoyance of my wonderful boyfriend (who very generously brought me to the captial and to the gig as an early christmas present.)

This concert made me fall madly in love with music again. Especially David Gray's music. Smile

Just a quick question - Anybody else think that the gig had a very Pink Floydish feel to it?
