A new year a new thread...
... for an old tradition.
And as we are well into it by now already - maybe you have seen one or the other gig already.
Day before yesterday I saw The Low Anthem at a small church in Berlin. They were alright although not special but I just went for nostalgic reasons. Djk and I saw them once opening for DG at the Union Church in Islington. The surprise of the evening were their support act though. A talented band from Seattle called The Head and the Heart. They sounded like a mixture of Mumford and the Fleet Foxes, with the best of both combined. very enthusiastic, very much into the music. A joy to watch.
I missed The National (my favourites right after DG) for DG in February but I needed to set priorities. My daughter went instead and she was quite impressed.
Then there are a few tickets waiting to be used, for acts like Phosphorescent and the Fleet Foxes and Sufjan Stevens. I will have to decide between the first two as they will be playing on the same night but I think Matthew's band might win :)
Then there will be a free promotional gig by Milow (one of Marcel's recommendations if I recall correctly) so I will check him out. My lovely daughter will drag me to another concert by her favourite band 30 Seconds to Mars where I will take the opportunity and raise the average age of the audience by a few years... ;p
And - I have just managed to snatch tickets for Hugh Laurie who will be playing in the small church mentioned above. Ha! Now how cool is that.
