Calling all California fans! Hey guys I wanted to establish who is from California. Since we get such few shows here I want to make sure that if you are a fan you get to the show. As Cali fans we can also maybe try and increase fan base here so we can get more shows here. Come on guys, rally with me! Maybe I nominated myself as the California representative =) haha

Kari it rains to much in where you  live =( but maybe it would be great preparation for me moving to the UK. Great idea except I have a taker here!

KRISTEN!!! How have you been? I'm so excited you stepped up! I'm pretty put out that California has not stepped up as true David Gray fans. I really think we need to prove ourseslf as well as have a little fun promoting. What would you do to promote David Gray's Draw The Line Album? See I am only shy and modest when I am around David himself so I love a little fun.

I am up for ideas but I think we need to help promote his album. I was thinking more along the lines of calling your local radio station requesting David Gray every hour. Going to all the local record stores and asking if they can play Daivd Gray in their store. Move all his cds out on display. Tell management you are trying to win a contest and take a pic with you by all the cds or just the display of his cds and post it here to get people excited. I am even thinking of making a huge banner to post next to our city welcome sign(please be careful, I am crazy and would be almost tickled if I got in trouble for posting a DG sign)

Yes I have a lot of energy and like having fun. YES I love David Gray and think he deserves this support. ;) He has dropped a lot of his money and soul into this cd so why the heck not?! Lets show appreciation. And yes I think California needs to show more love. And yet again, YES I really can't afford to travel around the world to see him right now.

I have been finding abstract ways to get his music out. I am actually trying to work with a local radio station on booking a bus trip to his next show having a contest to get people excited. I'm still working it though. I do not live in a cool city. I live within proximity to a cool city though(LA). I just want people to think about the different ways they can promote or get involved with Grayism. Lets just keep it fun.

As for the California chapter. I am channeling all my energy to get to any and every California show that comes around. I promise to notify everyone as soon as I know of these shows so we can fill any and every Cali show house. OMG, do I sound like a damn politician? Sorry. I just want to have some fun, some DG fun. Any other states wanna play? I dare you! Start the posts. I will have a picture of my activities for you guys tomorrow!!!

Ok guys todays fun was going by all the different music shops I could to see if I could get DG music moved to a better location. All I can say is that my town sucks when it comes to finding DG music. I found 3 cds at Target and NONE at Walmart. I made a point to ask a few people and employees if they knew who he was and took the time to try and educate.

    A little fun!

And then we went FYE. I put a DG cd in the #1 spot! We even got some music played here. (Notice The Drop Kick Murphy's cd, I bought it)

Then we went to a real record store

And fell in love with vinyl

    And another

Bought some Marvin Gaye, Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan. Oh, and some vintage punk cd for my daughter.

And then I ran to the corner pawn shop and grabbed a record player. I know I did it backwards. The guy gave it to me for nearly nothing. =) My daughter said it was because he thought I was purdy. Either way, I GOT MYSELF A RECORD PLAYER!!

Ok so NO one knew who DG was. I made friends in some cool vintage record shops. They are going to keep a look out for DG stuff for me. We made it to about 7 shops today. Records, cds, and guitar picks. Today was a good day. Stay tunned. Next I take on the local radio stations. If anyone has any ideas fill free to throw them out or do some yourselves.

Did you move the cd Doll?  I do it all the time, put it at the front of the display, lol.  Looks like a cool record shop, have fun with the record player.

Thanks Blue. Yes I did move some. My original plan was to move them all out so people would stumble across them, but then I realized that would not be good for someone actually looking for them. So I just moved a few and made a point to talk to the employees so they knew the cd. At the one store they allowed me to move all of his cds to the end isle with his name card.

As for the records I'm having a blast. You should see how my kids look at the record player like I found a dinosaur bone. I wish I would have gotten a picture of them all lined up around it staring in awe.

The highlight was after an awesome day my daughter and I set the record player up in her room. I put in the Bob Dylan while I massaged her. She is 13 going on 18 and has no desire to like anything I like(other than shopping and music in general). She loved Bob Dylan's record. When it stopped she asked if I could put in some more cool music. So I just put in DG. When This Year's Love came on I went to hit skip and my daughter snapped at me, "Go back, thats my favorite song please." Ha ha. I have never been able to get her to admit she even liked him.

    OMG Doll!

Awesome job! Way to go! I feel horrible in my meager attempts to bring DG to the masses-while at Target the other day I did find his cd's and make sure they were visible (they were also on sale)...Maybe I should have left a sticky note that said, "Buy this, you won't regret it" or something like that?  How about we start a Facebook page and see how if we can get any California fans on board that way? Any other ideas? Let me know!

Thanks for the encouragement on all sorts of mischief! I like the idea of putting the note on the cd. I am going to use that idea at a couple of places. I wish I had some posters or banners. It would make this easier. I have a labeler I am going to use. I was thinking of putting DAVID GRAY labels on some things as well. I'm trying to walk the line so I don't cause any grief(ha, ha).

Well I created a David Gray's California fans page.....I will work on it this evening. I have all this creative energy and I am not sure I am utilizing my energy to the best of its ability, but having fun.

Thanks Marcel. I look forward to keeping a log of every store I go into now on my travels. Every time I travel I always hit a pub, coffee house, book store, and music/arts center. Not necessarily in that order.
