He just did 4 songs...his helpers were not around on the night (maternal reasons) his comment about that was "putting a couple of p45's in the post" haha so he was left holding the fort-i enjoyed his cracks and the funny Thunderbirds type walk he did more than the songs -  ( with his feet moving like that and his head bobbling around in that dark suit- it was more like Virgil does the Albert hall )  "lmao" even though the other side is my favorite song... hope he don't mind my sense of humor-i didn't arf laff.

Yeah..i think it was 17 mins in total i have some more stuff-i have the whole first track he did (i don't know what it was called-not one i have heard before im afraid)  but it took 5 hours for the one you just watched to download-it was a massive file taken on a new 15.2 mega pixel camera i bought, so i'll leave that one for now,
glad you enjoyed it. i hope we can get him to do a gig for us so we can all enjoy some of his excellent entertaining!

Ha ha, lmao, that's our boy. It's so nice to see him enjoying himself. The man is a genius going from laughing to being serious, who else could do that? Big Smile

Tomorrow girl I'll buy you chips, a lollipop to stain your lips :-)

we were sitting 6 rows from the stage so i got pretty good footage, all that doin nuthin made us hungry..it was suuuuch a great night-we tried to find a curry house on the way home - ended up at some crummy services on the m40 and they relieved us of about  fifteen squid for a sandwich and drink each! mind you, it saved us getting Ghandi's revenge the next morning i suppose :)

    Hi everybody,

this was a  great night at the beautiful Royal Albert Hall. Most artists had just 20 minutes for their set and so had David who stayed on stage for 21 minutes. That place has marvellous acoustics and therefore was a perfect setting for David who played all on his own, just him and a guitar - or him and a piano respectively. In this place his strong voice was even more impressive.

David said he was going to make up the setlist as he went; there is no printed one.

    Here is the setlist:

    - The One I Love

    - Song To The Siren (Tim Buckley cover)

    - The Other Side

    - Babylon

I have never seen him play an entire set on his own and have to say it was a great experience. 'The One I Love' usually is the only song he performs playing an electric guitar so hearing this played solo on an acoustic one surely was something else.

''Song To The Siren was so beautiful, especially with those perfect acoustics in  such a perfect setting. This song has always been one of my favourite covers by David but this version was one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard live.

David then went to the piano and started with the first notes of 'World To Me' but then decided to play 'The Other Side' instead. Thank you Darren for posting the video footage of that song, much appreciated. Due to the microphone incident this was fun to watch, very funny and absolutely professional how David dealt with that.

    He finished with 'Babylon'.

Four songs aren't much but still well worth coming for.

This was a charity event for the Teenage Cancer Trust with different artists performing on several nights and they had certainly saved the best for last. Of course David was the best in my opinion but I also enjoyed  Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend of the Who performing an acoustic set. Unusual and real good. During the breaks inbetween performances films about the TCT's work and achievements and the stories of several teenagers who had been undergoing cancer treatments were shown. A rap song performed and written by two young cancer survivers for a fellow patient and friend who had lost his life to the illness was heart moving and brought everyone in the audience to their feet.

It was a pleasure meeting some of the winners of the TCT contest. First of all my great friend Djk who won a pair of tickets and took me along as a guest.  It was also great meeting  you Justin and Doug,  Andy and Darren and V1nesh and your friend. Sorry we missed out on meeting Hema and Heidi who were sitting somewhere at first row  where we could not get to.  The rest of us were all sitting together so it was great fun and those were real good seats with an excellent view. And they were even on the right side of the venue regarding watching David at the piano, ie on the left.

Here are some pics of our happy winners and their guests enjoying a special night:

Winner V1nesh (left) and his guest :

It was great meeting you all. Have a safe trip home to Colorado in two weeks Justin, and Darren enjoy your snow board holidays next week.

I forgot to mention that Virgin Radio filmed the entire event and will feature the video footage on their website. So check back here Virgin Radio TCT Royal Albert Hall.

There is also a page on David featuring an audio interview. David on not soundchecking and colour blindness.

By the way, the evening was hosted by Ben Jones who was the one who moderated the interactive internet gig that David played at Virgin radio last year.

There are some nice pics of David on their website already:

In the interview on Virgin Radio David mentioned Rob and his wife having another baby. So congratulations to Rob and all the best to his family!

    Hi Rena and everyone!

The show was unbelieveable. DG was excellent, but The Who, Amy Macdonald and others were great as well. Great pictures too, Rena. It was really cool to meet you all in person - Ive been on this forum for more than 3 years, but I've never met anyone on it, so that was cool. Also, a HUGE thanks to Andy for the DG DVD - it is amazing, and real ace of him to make. Thanks again DG and Co. I look forward to more shows in the States!!

Thanks for sharing you lucky winners and guests.  I think its great that David supported this cause.  This damn cancer affects so many people and when kids are hit with it is particularly sad.

    A few observations from way over here;

    1.  David is a giant compared to Roger Daltrey.

    2.  That Ben Jones is great!

    3.  There were some handsome fellows that won this contest.

As always, glad you had a great time.

We are family, I got all my sistas with me..
