David Gray Press Release Lost SongsThe year 2000 began with a most bizarre, fantastic and totally unforeseen event. The album white Ladder went to no.1 in the Irish charts, and as if this was not enough then proceeded to install itself for a six-week stay.There and then it became obvious to me that I was going to have to stop putting a ceiling on my expectations. The rules were being re-written, and what has happened in the six months that has followed, has only served to strengthen my belief that I have entered a realm where anything is possible.So to the release of ?lost songs?. Songs from the lean years, years when I was dragging my music like a burden through an indifferent world, feeding my creative spirit on scraps. My how the world has changed, and so quickly! These days when I take to the stage I am singing in another world entirely, and I am filled to bursting with an irrepressible joy at being alive and doing what I?m supposed to do.So as ?Lost Songs? leaps in straight at No.1. It seems like the right time to stop the wheels for a moment, and say thank you to all the people who have taken my music to their hearts, bought the records, and cheered at the concerts. The circle is complete, what was lost is now found.David Gray

david you were one of the best kept secrets of the music world to quote, er, jamie theakston (!) but i am so glad i opened my musical eyes a little more and discovered you even if it was only after white ladder was released. i'm glad you now feel complete happiness when you play live, it must feel good that after all these years you can feel that kind of real contentment.
